Purpose of Activity/ Assignment

The Social and behaviour change (SBC) Unit seek to hire a national consultant for social media management to advise on, plan and manage social media contents on the platforms, targeting parents and caregivers in Myanmar with key family care behaviours. She/he will advise on UNICEF Myanmar’s social media presence to promote knowledge and address key issues and concerns of parents and caregivers around maternal and child health, education and protection topics under the supervision of the SBC Specialist.

This consultant will support the SBC Unit to discuss, plan, implement and monitor strategies for the UNICEF Myanmar’s different social media pages and the responses to communities. The consultantwill help UNICEF to define and produce content – such as messages, images, infographics – to reach, inform, and engage larger audiences about maternal and child health, nutrition, immunization, education and protection topics as well as COVID-19 prevention and vaccination through social media platforms such as Facebook, Viber, Instagram, website.

Scope of Work

  1. Plan and manage social media contents
  • Under the supervision of the SBC Specialist, advise on, plan and analyse contents for UNICEF social media channels (UNICEF’s Facebook page, Viber channel, website) on to engage different audiences, monitoring their response and interactions. This may include undertaking ‘Admin’ role for a few of the social platforms.
  • Considering the existing complex situation in Myanmar, analyse different target audiences and create attractive and interesting contents to meet the current information needs of the public.
  • Support to develop social media content packages, including producing audio-video clips, GIF animated files, infographics, stories, photo essays etc., aligned to UNICEF SBC priorities, focused on online data, social media monitoring and interaction with online users.
  • Develop attractive, contextualized and tailored messages to meet the needs of the target audiences in consultation with SBC team and relevant programme section focal.
  • Provide support for public awareness-raising campaigns and behaviour and social change communication activities (SBC) in emergency, routine immunization, maternal and child health, WASH, Education, protection and COVID-19 pandemic and seek for technical clearance from respective sections/units of UNICEF.
  • Support to increase the number of followers and subscribers on all social media platforms of UNICEF.
  • Translate from Myanmar to English and vice versa as necessary for all social media contents and feedback from users.
  1. Monitoring and reporting
  • Analyse weekly social media trends in Myanmar to feed into different social media contents.
  • Use the big data tool ‘CrowdTangle’ and a defined methodology to analyse weekly social media (Facebook) trends in Myanmar. This includes reviewing the most-shared posts on Facebook each day; interpreting lists of the widest-reaching content-producers; monitoring rumours, myths and concerns; writing and delivering an 8-10-slide analytical Powerpoint report each month.
  • Collect and analyze data from UNICEF social media, on a weekly/monthly basis, using tools to generate social media reports, to evaluate the audience reach and engagement.
  • Support in monitoring performance of each social media post related to SBC.
  • Support the development of monthly social media report.
  • Liaise with partners around their own social media monitoring and share relevant information related to UNICEF’S mandate within specific areas based on social media listening.
  1. Capacity Building and enhancing communications and reach
  • Deliver training on social media strategies for routine immunization, COVID vaccination, maternal and child health, education and protection to UNICEF’s SBC Unit and relevant programme sections.
  • Support the management of the UNICEF’s social media feedback/commenting through reviewing of feedbacks and comments from the communities on the UNICEF’s social media platforms, compiling and coordinating with SBC and relevant programme sections/units to address those feedbacks/comments in a timely manner.
  • Support to create periodical polls to collect insights from the users to improve the contents of the social platforms as well as to collect community’s voices for SBC program.
  • Support the cross-sectoral SBC role in the humanitarian context of Myanmar.

Geographic Area : Home-based with a few travel to Nay Pyi Taw if needed

Duration : 11.5 months. 21 working days per month. Consultant manages his/her own time.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Degree in social science, international affairs, marketing or communication, journalism or other related areas.
  • SBC professional with at least 3years of work experience in implementing social media strategies for UN or non-profit organizations, at least 3 years’ experience working on social media, digital marketing or editorial for an NGO, global company or publishing outlet.
  • Experience in implementing social media strategies for non-profit organizations and/or private sector companies and tracking their success and analyzing results is essential.
  • High command of English and Burmese.
  • Experience in social and behaviour change strategy, programming and monitoring.
  • Strong skills in working with people and multitasking to handle multiple social media platforms and prioritizing messages for multiple audiences, including experience in managing the web.
  • High ethical standards and understanding of sensitivities pertaining to child-related/rights issues and working in a politically sensitive environment
  • Ability to research, design and execute ideas and ability to transfer knowledge and skills;
  • Excellent teamwork skills (self-starter an asset);
  • Knowledge of social media planning and monitoring technology and can use social media measurement and listening tools.
  • Experience in working for the UN, UNICEF or with International NGOs or global organisations is an asset.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract.
