How can you make a difference?

Purpose of Activity/Assignment: The overall purpose of this support is to strengthen of the child protection information management systems for the case management. The CP IMO will assist in the scaling up and implementation of the information management system as part of case management responses for children vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, neglect and violence (especially UASC) in Banadir, Baidoa, Garowe. In addition, the IMO will strengthen subnational level information management systems including the management of data collection, analysis, and sharing of information important for the CPAoR at sub-national level to make informed (evidence-based) strategic decisions – specifically through the development of national and subnational level dashboards.

Scope of Work: • Develop detailed district level coverage maps through the use of GIS mapping and other geographical data management systems. • Provide technical capacity building and training in service mapping online referral pathway and dashboard management, etc. • To ensure all information collected from the field teams as part of case management responses for children harmed or at risk of being harmed are safely and accurately filed and stored. • To ensure that all information Sharing, and data protection protocols are observed while managing information collected. • Provide training/refresher training on IMS and monitoring tool to government counterparts responsible for welfare and protection of women and children • Provide technical assistance and support government to implement and contextualize the Child protection Information Management (CPIMS) system at central and sub-national levels • Carry out regular field mission both at field level to provide technical support to community-based groups working on child protection and gender-based violence • Support capacity strengthening of the government counterpart at the field level on child protection and gender- based violence related information management system • Provide technical assistance and capacity development of governmental and other partners on CP IMS

Tasks/Milestones

DeliverablesRoll out of the CPIMS+ in 6 states

  • Case management information through the CPIMS+ activated in all camps hosting drought affected populations in 6 states
  • Ensure data of all cases registered under case management are correctly entered into the CPIMS+ system by partners operating in the prioritized districts one and two.

Data cleaning, analysis and reporting of case management services

Support the analysis of cases reported in the system, and provide weekly progress reports to the CPAoR coordinators

Data analysis and visualisation of needs, gaps and reach (overall HRP)

Develop detailed dynamic coverage maps (and other infographics) for each district (33 districts) and train coordination desk staff to regularly update

Capacity building

Development of IM capacity building plans.

Regular response reporting

  • Contribute to and support the consolidation of sitreps and regular information updates
  • Work with the subnational CPAoR coordinators to compile the monthly inter-agency 5Ws

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • University degree in information technology, demography, statistics, social sciences or any related area. Command of key information management applications, including: EXCEL, PowerBI, KOBO, GIS/Mapping software. Knowledge of the UN system and the humanitarian community. - Knowledge of protection-related guidelines, standards and indicators. - Proven skills to analyze statistical information - Advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, functions, etc.). Ability to formulate IM-related technical requirements and Operating Procedures.
  • At least 5 years (2 years with Advanced University degree) of relevant work experience of which at least 1 years combined field and/or headquarters experience in international organizations (e.g. UN agencies, INGOs, IOs, bi-lateral cooperation agencies, etc.)
  • The Child protection Information Management Specialist will be experienced in the PRIMERO platform and its rollout and expertise in the development of dynamic dashboards and mapping development. The Information Management Specialist will strengthen the CPAoR’s partner’s capacity in using the CPIMS+, analysis, and presentation systems/platforms. The specialist is expected to support the migration of case reports from the legacy, paper-based system to the CPIMS+ system. The specialist must have the capacity to deliver effective context- appropriate technical assistance to the CPAoR partners.
  • Ability to translate planning-specifications into technical briefs for data capture and analysis, and vice versa. Ability to compile and holistically analyze diverse datasets. Experience with handling confidential data. Demonstrated information management skills. Demonstrated understanding of different data collection methodologies. Understanding of relational data theory. Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of English and UN working language of the duty station if not English. very good knowledge of local language and local institutions is essential.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract.
