How can you make a difference?

Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of UNICEF Social and Behavioral Change Officer (Spotlight Initiative), deliver specific services and products/material as highlighted below. The mode/nature of work to be undertaken by the agency has also been highlighted below.

  • Develop a creative concept no more than 2 pages that showcase Spotlight Initiative beneficiaries in consultation with UNICEF Spotlight Initiative team.
  • Production of short films, showcasing the impact and result of the Spotlight Initiative on the lives of beneficiaries within each of the pillars.
  • Conduct video interviews with story focal points – beneficiaries and key stakeholders identified by RUNOs. Interview questions will be developed by the consultant with guidance from UNICEF Spotlight Initiative team.
  • Produce 6 (six) Impact story videos: 2-3 minutes duration using footage gathered specifically for these videos, including interviews, and other material as needed. The stories will seek to highlight the results of SI work and how they have had a positive impact on the lives of people in the target municipalities. Each video will highlight the results from each pillar and will be subtitled in English.
  • Develop six (6) high-quality photo essays which highlight results (or activities) for each pillar. The photo essay will be featured primarily on United Nations in Timor-Leste webpage, but also will be displayed on UNICEF and other RUNOs social media platforms and other instances.

NOTE

  • Ensure consent is taken for all interviews, material, and consent forms are submitted with the final material.
  • All material is copyright to UNICEF and the Spotlight Initiative. No material gathered or edited during the consultancy will be used by the contractors without prior written consent from UNICEF or the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, in consultation with UNICEF.
  • The music and other material used are paid for and other permissions obtained.
  • All material will be provided in broadcast, print format and well as in raw format and in source files.
  • When the videos are done the consultant has to hand over Master file video including B-roll footage to UNICEF

Work Assignment:

  1. Take raw footage videos of SI activities in the field, in coordination with UNICEF Communications team and conduct interviews with story focal points—the beneficiaries and key stakeholders
  2. Produce 6 (six) Impact story videos: 60-90 seconds duration using fresh footage, file material from points above. The stories will seek to highlight the results of SI works and how they have impacted on the lives of beneficiaries in the target municipalities. Each video will highlight the results from each pillar and will be subtitled in English.
  3. Develop 6 high-quality photo essays which highlight results (or activities) for each pillar. The photo essay will be featured primarily on United Nations in Timor-Leste webpage, but also will be displayed on UNICEF and other RUNOs social media platforms and other instances.
  4. Ensure that if a person (especially minors) or a private property was mainly highlighted in the photograph, consent form must be signed and shall be delivered with the Images and Caption Information, using the template that will be provided by UNICEF Communications team.

    All other documentation for music and other use must accompany final formats.

Deliverables:

1. Completion of all material for videos, with clearance by UNICEF -10 days

2.1. Submission of Creative concept (no more than 2 pages) - 5 days

2.2. finalization of Six (6) video files with duration between 60 to 90 seconds in FINAL form - 15 days

Should include feedback from UNICEF, RUNOs, SEII.

3. Submission of 1 (one) photo essay in digital form for each of the six Pillar (include feedback from UNICEF) - 10 days

4. Upon submission of Signed consent forms of the story focal points in UNICEF templates (1 day)

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in media communications, Journalism, Social Sciences, Humanities, Public administration, Economics, Political Science, or any other related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working with video production and photo projects or additional 2 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of academic degree requirement.
  • Understanding and familiarity of local context and issues surrounding gender-based violence in general
  • Understanding local vernaculars is a benefit but not essential.
  • Well equipped with professional grade photography / videography equipment
    • Ability to film broadcast quality video and audio: HD 1920x1080 or better.
    • Have Final Cut Pro editing skills (or other professional editing software i.e., Avid, Premiere, etc.).
    • Have knowledge of different video formats and video file conversions.
    • Have knowledge of converting of video files from multiple formats.
    • Have online video publishing and file transfer skills.
  • Proven postproduction experience creating photo and video stories
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of the communication requirements of a non-profit organization.

Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
