Overview

You have:

  • Minimum of a first level university degree in political sciences, law or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in matters related to human rights.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish.
  • Experience in information systematization and databases related to human rights.

Result of Service Within the duration of the contract, the IC- National Consultant on is expected to provide support in the drafting of a user manual for ECAP Platform and preparing a document on the challenges faced on regard verification and investigation of attacks against former combatants.

Duties and Responsibilities This position is situated in Head Quarters office of the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia (UNVMC), located in Bogota. The consultant contributes to the implementation of the Mission’s mandate by supporting the Security Guarantee´s Area by processing information and setting up a data base related to attacks against former FARC-EP combatants, human rights defenders, social leaders, communities, and social organizations, as per the internal protocols.

The consultant reports to the Head of Verification of Security Guarantees, and the Liaison Officer to which she/he is assigned to.

Within the delegated authority the Consultant will perform the following duties:

  • Supporting the Security Guarantees Area in the construction of its internal database (known as ECAP Platform), including elaboration of user manuals, provide data backups, and follow-up of relevant documentation and processes (IT-development, database functionalities and requirements)
  • Advise the Security Guarantees Area on relevant aspects regarding human rights violations documentation
  • Write reports and other relevant documentation regarding human rights violations
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: The National Consultant is required to have a minimum of a first level of university degree in political sciences, law or related field. Experience: The consultant should have a minimum of five years in matters related to human rights, and experience in information systematization and databases related to human rights. Language: The National Consultant is required to have fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish
