How can you make a difference?

To understand the factors (drivers) influencing people’s immunization-related choices and practices, UNICEF Kazakhstan is seeking for a national consultant on data analysis and data management to conduct data analysis and prepare a report for a Survey on Knowledge, Attitudes and Behavioural Drivers toward Childhood and COVID-19 Vaccination at country level to increase demand for childhood and COVID-19 vaccines. The engagement of the consultancy is required as the tasks involves professional skills and experience in conducting research, developing data analysis plan, processing of data and analytical write up. The survey also presents the case of an independent from UNICEF opinion of the contractor on the findings and recommendations.

Purpose of Activity/Assignment UNICEF Office in Kazakhstan aims to improve the health and well-being of all children. The initial study will collect data on behavioural drivers influencing vaccination decision making among parents/caregivers. The study will assess factors influencing childhood and COVID-19 vaccination uptake. The overall purpose of the assignment is to provide UNICEF Kazakhstan with support in data analysis and preparing a report for a Survey on Knowledge, Attitudes and Behavioural Drivers toward Childhood and COVID-19 Vaccination in Kazakhstan. The study will be conducted by using a survey among parents (mothers and fathers)/caregivers of children aged 0-17. Information obtained through the research will support the formulation of actionable and country specific recommendations and will help health authorities and key stakeholders to improve and strengthen the interventions for the increasing demand for childhood and COVID-19 vaccines.

2. Tasks/Milestones: The preparation of the data analysis plan Deliverables/Outputs: 1. Conducted desk review for understanding the context of the assignment. UNICEF will provide the national consultant with a questionnaire for parents and caregiver on childhood and COVID-19 vaccination, the Inception Report of Behavioural Insight Research conducted by the UNICEF Europe and Central Asia Regional Office, the dataset, and the codebook. 2. Certificate on ethics in research and human subjects’ protection, research methodology, data collection tools, data management and input. 3. Identified final outcomes. 4. Validated data analysis plan. Date: August 12, 2022

3. Tasks/Milestones: Data analysis Deliverables/Outputs: 1. Conducted data analysis. 2. Submitted weekly brief status reports to UNICEF on data analysis, including challenges and proposed mitigation measures. 3. Validated Results of the data analysis Date: August 31, 2022

4. Tasks/Milestones: The preparation of the draft report Deliverables/Outputs: 1. A draft report (maximum 30 pages for each component): clearly articulating key findings, conclusions, lessons learned and recommendations; and an Executive Summary of no more than 10 pages, details including acknowledgements, unexpected findings, how bias was overcome, annexes including the research questions, ethics approval, informed consent forms and the original TOR. 2. The draft report must include the following sections: introduction, brief literature review, study methodology, results, discussion and recommendations. 3. It is recommended that the report will include: what is out of the scope of the study, further consideration of how immunization can be presented in order to receive more attention from population, specific roles and responsibilities of the UNICEF team, formal literature review. 4. The report is prepared in English. Date: 23 September 2022

5. Tasks/Milestones: The preparation of the final report. Deliverables/Outputs: Final report taking into account all comments provided by UNICEF and validated by UNICEF Date: 30 September 2022

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, medicine, sociology • Competency in designing and conducting qualitative and quantitative research related to healthcare and social and behavioural sciences. • Competency in analyzing collected data and making strategic observations and recommendations. • Competency and/or educational background in biostatistics, epidemiology, and public health. Advanced knowledge of biostatistics is a requirement. • At least 5 years of experience in sociology/public health/ biostatistics/ epidemiology/ medicine. • Knowledge and at least 3 years of experience related to healthcare data analysis. • Advanced working skills in statistical data analysis and database management. Specific experience in R/Stata/SPSS/Python. • Experience working with large data sets. • Proven experience with data management. • Expertise in research protocols and methodologies applied to healthcare. • Skills in writing research reports in a comprehensive, focused and reader-friendly way. • Advanced user of research software. • Experience in conducting data analysis for international /UN agencies will be an asset. • Prior research experience and publications will be an asset. • Fluency in English (written and spoken), knowledge of Kazakh and Russian will be an asset. • Competencies: - Communication; - Working with people; - Drive for results; - Conducting research; - Developing data analysis plan; - Processing of data and analytical write up; - Analyzing
