How can you make a difference?

Working with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Trade Commerce, and Industry (MTCI) and National Committee for Control of Iodine Deficiency Disorders (NCIDD) to map the salt supply chain in Timor-Leste

WORK ASSIGNMENTS:

1.0. Brief desk review

1.1. Undertake a desk review of salt iodization situation including information on salt supply chain (production, importation, distribution and storage), policies, plans and programs in Timor-Leste. This should include information on salt use for animal feed and food production.

1.2 Prepare a brief report of about 2-4 pages on the documents that are available, tools, best practice, and experiences from other countries to conduct a successful supply chain mapping to identify the points of production, importation, storage and distribution.

2.0. Development of protocol and tools for mapping of salt supply chain:

2.1. In collaboration with MoH, MTCI and partners agree on the coverage and depth expected for each activity.

2.2. Develop a protocol for assessment of salt production and supply chain in Timor-Leste including data analysis and report plan

2.3. Present the protocol to the National Committee for Control of Iodine deficiency Disorders and incorporate changes

2.4. Finalize the tools for data collection

3.0. Supply Chain Mapping:

3.1. Finalize the tools for data collection and the data collection platform.

3.2 Identify and recruit data collectors

3.3 Train data collectors on data collection and the use of the data collection platform, deploy and pre-test the data collection platform.

3.4 Supervise the data collection

3.5 Conduct data analysis and prepare a salt supply chain mapping report.

4.0. Reporting

4.1 Prepare a presentation of the report to the NCCIDD and KONSSANTIL

4.2 Develop a final report of the consultancy

DELIVERABLES:

1. Brief report of the review of secondary resources assessing the salt supply chain in Timor-Leste (5 days)

2. Salt supply mapping data collection protocol, data collection plan and tools including the platform (15 days)

3. Training report; and Data collection report and draft salt supply chain mapping Report submitted (25 days)

4. PPT presentation of the findings of the mapping; and Final report (15 days)

Duration of Assignment: 60 days, spread over from October 2022 - January 2023

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health or related fields with prior experience or involvement in conducting research or studies, training, data collection and managing a team of enumerators.
  • Demonstrable understanding of mapping of services and resources, development of survey/assessment tools and data analysis.
  • Strong writing skills in Tetum and English with a clear, straightforward writing style
  • Strong communication skills for achieving consensus amongst multiple stakeholders

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws
  • Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
