Purpose of Activity/Assignment: • To support UNICEF Myanmar’s digital communication performance to engage young people about green skills, climate changes and environmental conservation • To ensure we reach the possible highest number of youth online communities with youth-friendly content and engage with them through different creative content around climate crises, air pollution-related health risks etc • To strengthen young people’s social media skills as one of the green skills and work with UNICEF program sections to promote youth empowerment for green transition

Scope of Work:

Under the oversight of the Communication Officer and Health Specialist, the consultant will perform key responsibilities including: 1. Social Media Platform Set-up – Creative planning and strategy to develop ideas for content pieces to be utilized across social media channels 2. Social Media Strategy Development – Develop compelling social media content focused on children, adolescents and young people in Myanmar, the impact of UNICEF Myanmar’s youth engagement work 3. Social Media Focused Content Creation – monitoring and responding to comments, questions, and content on social media sites promptly, as well as escalating where appropriate 4. Social Media Community Management 5. Social Media Monitoring and Evaluation – Support in the development of Podcast strategy and provide scripts for the topics agreed

Duty Station:

Home-based/ Remote.

Travel Requirements:

The consultant might need to travel to some areas to collect content for social media platforms and to join environment-related activities organized by UNICEF and partner agencies.

12 months. Flexible hours. Delivery-based. Consultant manages his/her own time.

Description of Assignment:

Task 1: Social Media platform set-up • Conduct a thorough analysis of the target audience, trends, and brand goals to determine the most suitable social media platforms. • Create and set up official profiles/accounts on selected platforms, ensuring consistency in branding, messaging, and contact information. • Configure account settings, privacy options, and security measures to align with best practices and requirements as necessary and appropriate. • Consult with Communication Officers and Green Skills youth taskforce volunteers and develop brand assets including logos, pictures and any graphics related to page launch together with UNICEF. • Develop page launching plan with timeline/ phases and create media assets relating to the plan.

Deliverable 1:

• Facebook page set up and workflow for developing the page developed • Launching plan developed • Creative assets for the page launch produced

Timeline: By end of Jan 2024

Task 2: Social Media Strategy Development: • Conduct a thorough analysis of the current social media landscape and the organization's goals. • Develop a tailored social media strategy outlining objectives, target audience, key messaging, and content guidelines. • Provide recommendations for frequency of posts, publishing advice, engagement tactics and moving forward suggestions. • Collaborate with Communication Officer and Green Skills Youth Taskforce to ensure alignment with overall brand objectives.

• Identify campaign content opportunities based on brand milestones, events, trends or related appropriate celebratory local and international dates. • Develop detailed campaign plans including goals, timeline, and content strategies. • Monitor, optimize, and report on campaign performance with recommendations for future initiatives.

Deliverable 2:

• Social Media strategy developed in consultation with Green Youth Task Force • Creative assets and guidelines for graphics and media developed • Major campaign plans produced • Media buying and post-scheduling plan proposed • Campaigns performance reports produced at the end of every campaigns

Timeline: By end of April 2024

Task 3: Social media Focused Content Creation: • Develop content calendar and high-quality, engaging contents aligned with the established strategy. • Develop a content calendar with a diverse mix of media (text, images, videos) for different platforms. • Ensure brand consistency and tone of voice across all content including providing at directions for content assets. • Support Green Skills Youth Taskforce volunteers in content creation by editing the copy, stories, in the preparation of interactive multimedia presentations etc.

Deliverable 3:

• Content forward plans on El Nino and key issues of climate change (as agreed by Health Specialist) developed • Content creation by Green Skills Youth Task Force supported

Timeline: By end of July 2024

Task 4: Social Media Community Management: • Establish and maintain an active presence on social media platforms. • Foster positive interactions by responding to comments, messages, and mentions promptly. • Implement community engagement initiatives to build a loyal and supportive online community. • Flag any reputation risk identified among the messages received on timelines or private messages and that needs to be addressed. This includes any severe criticisms or specific allegations about UNICEF, the UN or our work.

Deliverable 4:

• Community management guidelines produced • Custom-made responses prepared • Managed comments and feedback from audiences

Timeline: By the end of Sept 2024

Task 5: Social Media Monitoring and Evaluation: • Provide feedback on the level of engagement including social media listening and insights report. • Develop a detailed analysis report about the social media campaign, with focus on the impact of campaign in terms of reach, clicks and engagement rates.

• Report on the effectiveness of the initiative and approaches

Deliverable 5:

• Social media engagement insight report • Community monitoring insights provided • Report on effectiveness of approaches produced

Timeline: By end of November 2024

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • High school diploma, Undergraduate, degree in communication, journalism, social science, social media or other fields related to the work of UNICEF.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in developing a wide array of online content (story, blogs, photo, video etc), social media management and planning, asset development, campaign building, and online campaigns
  • Joined at least one course on green skills/climate change/environmental-related or courses
  • Experience with NGOs (a UN agency is a plus) to ensure an understanding of the target audience and the public sector dynamics
  • Knowledge about social media insights and experience in doing the content analysis
  • Understanding about youth online communities and online trends among youth

Technical competencies: • Demonstrated professional competence and knowledge of the areas of work

Competencies: • Passionate about the environment and climate change issue • Ability to work quickly and responsively • Ability to work independently • Demonstrates integrity and high ethical standards • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability • Treats all people fairly without favouritism • Fulfils all obligations to gender sensitivity and zero tolerance for sexual harassment

Languages: • Good written and oral communication skills in Myanmar is a must and having good English language skill is an asset

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
