Taking in consideration that a majority UNICEF documents and internal communication, both via email and verbally, are made using the English language, the UNICEF Bissau Country office would like to ensure the availability of a qualified English Language teacher for staff members to improve their English skills, in order to facilitate communication and improve the quality of documents produced.

How can you make a difference?

The United Nations Children's Fund in Guinea Bissau wishes to hire an Individual Contractor (English Language teacher) to teach staff members internally.

The courses will be schedule 50 % online and 50% face-to-face. Therefore, individual contractor is requested to provide in his technical proposal approach and strategy for the organization of these courses (number of group, time, duration, etc.)

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:

  • University Diploma/Degree in Pedagogy (Teaching English) and/or Interpretation and Translation from English to Portuguese and vice versa with
  • Experience of teaching English language to adult learners.
  • Must be fluent English and Portuguese.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a group of at least 5 participants.
  • Experience with the United Nations system would be an asset.
  • Have good interpersonal communication skills.

Conditions of work:

COVID 19 prevention measures need to be complied at all moments, including the use of mask.

Submission of Candidacy.

The service provider must provide a detailed financial offer including fees per unit/participant, per group of at least 10 people and the total fees.

In addition to his/her financial offer the service provide must also provide the following documents:

  • Letter of Motivation
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Passport or ID card
  • Copies of Diplomas and Certificates related to the assignment
  • At least 3 references from his previous employers guaranteeing the good quality of his/her services
  • A Technical offer including a brief presentation of his/her teaching methods.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
