National Consultant (cross-border electronic information exchange for efficient railway transport and transit)
Result of Service The outputs of this assignment consist of: a. Finalization of questionnaire and collection of information required to complete project studies under the project b. GIS mapping of the railway corridor between CMR and intermodal connections between South Korea and Japan c. Finalization of an Action Plan for electronic information exchange for efficient railway transport d. Liaise with national railway and other national agencies related on digital interchange of data for cross-border railway including for collection of information

Duties and Responsibilities ESCAP East and North-East Asia Office, together with Transport Division (TD) and Trade Investment and Innovation Division (TIID), is implementing the project on promoting cross-border electronic information exchange for efficient railway transport and transit in East and North-East Asia. For the project implementation, it is required to collect information from the railways and other agencies of the three countries covered by the project (China, Mongolia, and Russian Federation) and undertake other coordination work required for implementing the project. The consultant will liaise among various stakeholders from the three countries to deliver meetings/workshops and other outputs under the project.
Qualifications/special skills University degree in transport or related fields Minimum of 5 years of experience in railway and GIS based systems Work experience of railways and related to geographical information systems, experience organizing regional/international meetings, workshops, conferences, etc. at UNESCAP or other international organizations is desirable.
Languages Fluency in Russian is required and knowledge of English is desirable.
