Background

UN Women, the United Nations entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women, was created to accelerate progress towards the fulfillment of their rights around the world. UN Women assists UN member states in setting international norms and standards for achieving gender equality and works with governments and civil society to develop laws, policies, programs, and services needed to implement these standards.

United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) supports UN member states in implementing international standards for achieving gender equality and cooperates with governments and civil society in the development of laws, policies, programs, and services necessary to effectively implement these standards. By providing these essential skills and support mechanisms, the project aims to promote independence, resilience, and social integration among the target audience. The program will also engage local government institutions (Centers for the Prevention and Control of AIDS), CSOs, and crisis centers for meaningful exchanges aimed at exploring existing challenges and gaps and identifying strategic solutions that are tailored to the unique needs of women and girls living with HIV.
