Provide national consultancy on COVID-19 adjusted economic analysis

You have:

  • Master’s Degree in Economics, Econometrics, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in economic research, development research, and/or in the related fields.
  • Experience in data collection and analysis.
  • Strong communication, coordination and collaboration skills.
  • Very good command of oral and written English and Persian.
  • Experience/demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office software, econometrics and statistics software.
  • Familiarity with UN analytical reports and policy briefs.
  • Strategic management capacity and technical leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with Socio-economic analysis.

UNDP supports countries around the world to formulate strategies, policies, and programme interventions that promote sustainable development. To advance these aims, UNDP provides technical policy advice and programming tools, especially to help address critical sustainable development challenges. UNDP country offices work closely with government counterparts and other national stakeholders to support the inclusive and sustainable development policies that are aligned with the national context and priorities. UNDP co-chairs the UN Working Group (cluster) on Resilient Economy (with UNICEF). Protecting development gains, vulnerable groups and improving socio-economic resilience in the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) during economic downturns is offered as one initial contribution for consideration by the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in IRI towards this important action agenda. To mitigate the impact of the unilateral sanctions and the COVID-19 pandemic in Iran, UN with the UNDP technical economic leadership has prepared two programmes including a Technical Assistance Package (TAP) framework and a Socio-Economic Response Programme against COVID-19Based on the above mentioned and to bridge to the Common Country Analysis (CCA) UNDP is going to strength the economic analysis and the consultant is expected to facilitate the above process.

Duties and Responsibilities

The consultant as the primary source of national technical support shall coordinate all the below Activities:

Activity 1: Inclusive Economic Growth

Activity 2: Social protection, social budgeting, and livelihood

Activity 3: Employment and labour market

Activity 4: SMEs and Micro entrepreneurs’

Activity 5: Fiscal and monetary policies analysis for MSMEs, Micro Credit Funds and Home workers

The Consultant is required to have the following eligibility criteria:

Mandatory Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Economics, Econometrics, or equivalent;

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in economic research, development research, and/or in the related fields;

• having experience/demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office software, econometrics and statistics software;

• Previous experience in data collection and analysis;

• Strong communication, coordination and collaboration skills;

• Very good command of oral and written English and Persian

Desirable Qualifications:

• Familiarity with UN analytical reports and policy briefs;

• Strategic management capacity and technical leadership skills;

• Familiarity with Socio-economic analysis;

• Previous experience with research centres, universities, and government entities.
