CIFOR – ICRAF hosted by The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a dedicated and motivated Senior Research Associate, to be part of the Landscapes For Our Future (LFF) Initiative that supports 23 Integrated Landscape Management projects, covering 20 countries and 3 sub-regions worldwide. The LFF Initiative offers solutions to context-specific land use challenges, and promotes objectives related to: (1) food and nutrition security, job creation and resilience and sustainable agriculture; (2) climate change mitigation and adaptation; and (3) biodiversity and terrestrial/forest ecosystem conservation, restoration, and sustainable use. The projects supported cover a wide range of thematic areas, ranging from biodiversity and landscape conservation to climate-smart agriculture and sustainable value chain development.

About the role: The selected candidate for this position will assist on-going engagement with the seven national projects in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region, develop logistical plans for country mission visits, assist with the organization and facilitation of webinars, support data collection, and manage project files.

Key responsibilities:

· Provide inputs to a general LAC workplan through active participation in LFF meetings and discussions with LFF team based on current Global Synthesis framework, relevant Landscape in Practice (LIP) papers, and related topics. · Maintain active communication channels between LFF LAC team and ILM initiatives in the LAC region about Global Synthesis process and relevant LIPs related topics. · Provide timely update on the status of projects and engagement needs. · Draft ILM Briefs (at least 3) based on Learning Mission reports of 2023. · Co-author a reviewed versions of Muli-stakeholder Forums (MSF) for ILM Initiatives LIP paper. · Organize and support facilitation and note taking of a minimum of two virtual ‘lessons learned’ webinars in LAC. (Provide inputs to the MIRO decks and tools for online consultation.) · Draft proceedings on each virtual workshop. · Assist with the organization and facilitation of regional summit for knowledge exchange about ILM best practices (and, if possible, attend to LAC regional workshop in Q4, 2024). · Comply with applicable health and safety CIP and CIFOR-ICRAF policies and procedures.

Requirements

What are we looking for?

· MSc social science field related to Political Ecology, Governance or Environmental Studies · Relevant experience in similar functions related to this position related to Political Ecology, Governance, Forestry · In Depth knowledge of Integrated Landscape Management theory and practice and application of these concepts in Latin America · Experience with social science research methods. · Experience with meeting facilitation and moderation of discussions. · Experience organzing on-exchanges and/or webinars. · Excellent Spanish and English writing and verbal communication skills.
