Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

In August 2025, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) announced a political roadmap aimed at advancing a Libyan-led and Libyan-owned process toward restoring unified, legitimate, and accountable institutions. The roadmap outlines key political, legal, and institutional steps required to overcome the current political impasse and move Libya toward sustainable stability.

A central component of this roadmap is the Structured Dialogue, an inclusive forum that brings together Libyans from across regions and backgrounds to identify concrete solutions to issues hindering the political and electoral process, and to generate actionable recommendations to support implementation of the roadmap.

To support informed public engagement with the roadmap and the Structured Dialogue, UNSMIL conducts extensive public outreach and communications activities, producing digital content such as videos, graphics, and web-based materials. In a complex information environment, these efforts are essential to promoting transparency, countering misinformation and disinformation, and ensuring that accurate information reaches broad audiences across Libya.

The Online Volunteer will support these outreach efforts by contributing to the development and adaptation of public-facing communications content related to the roadmap and the Structured Dialogue.

UNSMIL is seeking experienced and creative Online Volunteers to support the Public Information and Communications Section in the development of digital communications content, including videos and graphics, in support of the Libyan political process and other public outreach campaigns.

Working in close coordination with the communications team, the Online Volunteers will contribute to the conceptualization, production, and editing of multimedia content for use across UNSMIL’s digital platforms.

Expected outputs

  • Design up to 5 social media graphics (static or animated), based on provided messaging.

  • Produce or edit up to 7 short social media videos (including basic editing, subtitles, or captions, as required).

The Online Volunteers will be provided with background materials and source content to support content development, as available. To ensure close coordination and timely feedback, the volunteers are expected to be available for regular coordination calls via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

This assignment offers Online Volunteers an opportunity to strengthen skills in digital storytelling, graphic design, video production, and strategic communications, while gaining experience working with a United Nations field mission in a collaborative and multicultural environment.
