Result of Service- Improvement of living conditions at team sites. - Reduce the emission of carbon dioxide gases from diesel generators through the installation of solar panels system.

Work Location Unarmed military observers camps in Western Sahara

Expected duration 9 months

Duties and Responsibilities Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of MINURSO Chief Engineer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the multi-skilled construction worker will be supported by laborer to be responsible to carry out but not limited to the following tasks; - Liaise with the infrastructure Unit supervisor for expert advice on construction works, mason for concrete matters and other technicians as necessary - Carrying weights (e.g., cement bags, solar system batteries...etc.), climbing scaffolding, staging, ladders, and planks to reach surfaces of work area for repairing, construction, painting and other works. - Perform all tasks related to construction works such as formworks; mixing and pouring of concrete, cement mortar, brickworks, concrete blocks, curb stones, plastering, laying of wall and floor tiles, painting and similar works. - Sort out material and install prefabricated containers and related works; - Repairing of structural metal and woodworks - Carry out assembly of solar system supporting frames and installation of PV solar panels and associated electrical control panels, batteries, investors and other equipment - Assist in digging trenches for electrical cabling, wiring, cable joining works etc. - Assist in preparation of the foundation for new structures and construction of buildings such as power control room and ablutions. - Walkways patches; digging holes and pouring cement and laying pipe. - Carry out preventive maintenance and regular cleaning for air conditioners filters and parts, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, water heaters, kitchen equipment and other small electromechanical equipment. - Assist in installation of water and sewer lines; disconnecting service lines. - Assist in repairing of plumbing works in restrooms, water pipelines, cleaning water tanks randomly, and leaky valves. - Installing, maintaining and repairing of doors with frames, windows, door locks, door handles, window handles, curtains, shelves, tables, chairs, benches, bulletin boards, prefab floor and roofs. - Preparing surfaces and applying protective and decorative coats of paint, varnish, lacquer and/or other related materials to interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, furniture, equipment, and other structures. - Repairing, maintaining and altering buildings, retaining walls and other brick or stone edifices. - Monitor the UN owned tools/equipment and material inventory under custody - Adhere to all UN and international safety standards and applicable codes, - Perform other related duties assigned by the Chief Engineering Officer and the Power Generation Unit supervisor.

Qualifications/special skills Possession of high school diploma or equivalent is required. Vocational training in the field of carpentry, metal works, welding, construction, plumbing, or other related field from a Technical school for building maintenance and construction trade is highly desirable. Do you have minimum of 6 years of experience in the field of building construction and maintenance of facilities (construction, carpentry works, metal works...etc.)? Possession of driving license for construction machinery (Front loader, Backhoe, or grader) is highly desirable.

Languages Official working language in the mission is English. Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic / or Spanish language is an asset.
