STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 6 months’ in Supply Chain, Business Management or other relevant field;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
  • Fluent in English

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill two internship positions under the WFP Programme Unit of the Mozambique Country Office. The positions will be based in Pemba, Mozambique. The Internship will be for an initial period of 6 months months starting from October 2022.

JOB PURPOSE

  • Successfully contribute for the operational improvement for the logistics unit in WFP Cabo Delgado through identification and reduction of non-added value tasks.
  • Ensure a reduction of overdue invoice processing by 25%.
  • Ensure timely submission of monthly report for warehousing activities.
  • Production of analytical Supply Chain reports.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

The Intern should be able to perform or assist on the below tasks:

  • Under direct supervision of the Logistics Officer or delegated authority, provide support to Logistics operation and activities, following the standards processes and facilitating, directly or indirectly, the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  • Support invoice processing in coordination with Country Office, liaise whenever necessary with service provider/partner/retailer to expedite the process
  • Support the planning and implementation of innovative supply chain operations, initiatives and services to ensure timely, cost-effective cash Based Transfer (CBT) operation in Cabo Delgado.
  • Provide technical advice and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation initiatives analyzing best practices from the humanitarian and private sector.
  • Support the management of logistics retailers' contracts, including performance monitoring and measurements.
  • Assist in processing retailers claims in a timely manners and ensure that those are in full compliance with WFP standard procedures.
  • Assist in monitoring the inventory management process to track trends and account for the inventory status from the source to the beneficiary.
  • Assist in close monitoring the retailers performance, in particular regarding the quality of commodities rendered to the beneficiaries.
  • Other logistics related tasks as required

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP of US$ 575 per month.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education;
