UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

UNICEF’s Risk Communication and Community Engagement

Indonesia is among the countries in southeast Asia most-affected by COVID-19. In addition to the direct impact of COVID-19 on children, the indirect impact of the pandemic on Indonesia’s 80 million children and their daily lives has been severe and widespread. Throughout 2020 and 2021, UNICEF Indonesia continued to work closely with the Government of Indonesia and partners to address the immediate and longer-term effects of COVID-19 on children.

UNICEF’s Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) response to COVID-19 in Indonesia follows a dual approach: 1) Support to the government-led COVID response by providing direct support to national authorities responsible for the response (strengthening and enhancing the voice of national authorities), which has enabled UNICEF to influence and shape the country’s RCCE response, and achieve greater reach, and 2) Rolling out a UNICEF-led response through UNICEF platforms and networks, which complement the government’s voice and interventions.
