About the job:

The role focuses around coordinating, improving and implementing monitoring & evaluation systems, ensuring accountability and learning to improve programme quality and effectiveness and managing the MEAL team. The postholder is also responsible for having minimum operating procedures and frameworks in place to meet the Core Humanitarian Standards. This includes capacity development of the programme team to improve programme quality as well as facilitate learning to inform adaptive, evidence-based programming in line with DRC and donor requirements and DRC mandate, vision, strategy and principles.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Develop and adapt MEAL systems to capture programme quality, accountability and learning
  • Ensure data management systems and models to support, inform and measure programme quality and implementation
  • Ensure inclusive, robust and innovative accountability systems are in place across all DRC programmes and locations
  • Support the design of strategies and deliver capacity building on MEAL across the country operation to ensure delivery against the strategy, mandate and principles
  • Design innovative learning systems to support evidence based programming according to DRC values and principles as well as identifying opportunities for improvement, diversification and effectiveness
  • Manage team of MEAL colleagues across different locations and coordinate across teams and sectors to ensure quality programme delivery

About you:

To be successful in this role we expect you to have significant experience in a MEAL capacity in a humanitarian context. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • 5 years working in an area of or related to montiroing, evaluation, accountability and learning in a humanitarian context
  • Experience in management of a team/individuals
  • Experience in the design and management of accountability and feedback tools and knowledge management systems
  • Experience in undertaking large assessments and supporting the design of evidence based programming
  • Strong knowledge of humanitarian principles and CHS standards and how to apply these across multi-sectoral programmes and contexts
  • Experience in data management, analysis and presentation
  • Excellent communication (written and spoken) skills in English

Desirable

  • Experience in research methodologies
  • Experience in capacity building in MEAL
