Conduct research on refugee feedback collection methods
You have:
- Graduate student or upper-level undergraduate in the social sciences.
- Upper-level coursework in research methodology and statistics, familiarity with program evaluation.
- Familiarity with issues facing refugees, immigrants and migrants.
- Interested in contributing to a sustainable effort to systematically collect and use feedback from IRC clients to improve our services and client outcomes.
- Ability to work independently, asking for guidance when needed in order to contribute to team objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct online research on methods of gathering feedback from refugees, including those with no English and/or lack of formal education and/or low digital literacy, on a variety of programs and services.
1. Attend regular meetings (virtually or in-person, in-person preferred) of the Client Feedback committee, assist with planning next steps, note-taking, other tasks as-needed.
2. Contribute to the following:
• Gathering survey documents and other information from program staff.
• Identifying needs for translation, following up on translation process
• Creating Survey Monkey or other digital techniques to gather data.
• Piloting survey, analyzing and interpreting results, tweaking as- needed.
3. Learn (though attend meetings, program materials, self-directed research) about best practices for gathering client feedback from refugees and other displaced persons, and how to translate this feedback into program improvements.
4. Other related tasks as-needed
Deliverable(s): Piloted Community Feedback Instrument.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: The intern will gain valuable experience partnering with refugee groups and providers in a participatory evaluation project aimed at giving refugees a voice in the design of services meant to benefit them. They will learn about the myriad challenges facing refugees in Arizona, and about the services and policies in place to help them. Finally, they and will learn to think critically about potential changes and improvements to policies and services impacting refugees and migrants.
Qualifications REQUIREMENTS: • Graduate student or upper-level undergraduate in the social sciences.
• Upper-level coursework in research methodology and statistics, familiarity with program evaluation.
• Familiarity with issues facing refugees, immigrants and migrants.
• Interested in contributing to a sustainable effort to systematically collect and use feedback from IRC clients to improve our services and client outcomes.
• Ability to work independently, asking for guidance when needed in order to contribute to team objectives
