We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Job Summary:

The Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator will be a member of the project team and will work with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team and others to support the development, implementation, management, and conduct of monitoring and evaluation activities. The Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator will provide technical support for quality assurance activities and routine reporting, as well as administrative and project management support to coordinate activities with the larger project team, local implementing partners, the government, nongovernmental organizations, community organizations. The Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator should have demonstrated management and teamwork skills and will leverage previous experience and work with diverse teams on multiple projects at once.

Accountabilities:

Technical

  • Provides support to MERL Director in the development and implementation of monitoring tools and plans
  • Assists in the development of performance indicator tracking tables and performance indicator reference sheets and templates
  • Assists in the review and verification of data generated, ensuring that they are in line with M&E reporting requirements
  • Calculates indicators and provides quality assurance for client reporting
  • Assists in preparation of quarterly progress and annual progress reports and uploads all approved M&E relevant data and reports into the online systems as required
  • Conducts searches of published literature, blogs; gathers information, data and statistics needed to provide evidence to reports and target setting
  • Contributes to presentations in MS Word, Excel and/or Power Point formats by copy-editing, writing, generating tables, graphs, and other data visualizations;
  • Participates in quality improvement plans which focus on M&E
  • Provides support to qualitative assessments, such as transcription and coding of interview and focus groups discussion transcripts

Project Management/Coordination

  • Works closely with the MERL Director and the team to provide guidance and support to partners as needed
  • Provides training to partners as needed in the use of FHI 360 monitoring tools
  • Supports the coordination and execution of activities such as organizing capacity building workshops to staff and partners, collecting and disseminating relevant information on monitoring, evaluation and research
  • Supports the execution of MERL activities, including consultant and vendor hiring, monitoring, and invoicing
  • Travels when needed to coordinate, monitor and/or participate in monitoring and evaluation activities

  • Performs other related duties as assigned and agreed upon.

Supervision Given/Received:

  • Determines methods and procedures on new projects and assignments.

Education:

  • Master’s Degree or its International Equivalent in Civil Society, Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, Environment, Population studies, Gender, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology and Youth, international development, economics, political science or a Related Field.
  • Project Management (PM) Certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Typically requires 8+ years of managing data collection and technical assistance experience.
  • Proficiency with database management software and on-line search tools required.
  • Has sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of the political, contextual, and ethical issues in assigned areas.
  • Articulate and professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private company.

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Typical office environment.
  • Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.

Technology to be Used:

  • Personal Computer/Laptop, Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams), cell phone/mobile technology, and standard office equipment.
