This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Associate will assist the M&E and Communication Analyst and the programme team with the implementation of Country Office M&E Results Framework by monitoring, tracking changes, data collection, documenting and reporting on the results frameworks. The associate will apply established systems and procedures and assist in the creation of knowledge by compiling, synthesising and analysing relevant information, developing appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensuring compliance with procedures.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Monitoring, Evaluation and Communications Analyst or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Monitoring and Evaluation Associate will:

  • Contributes to the development of UNFPA project documents, work plans;
  • Assists in the monitoring of Country Programme budget and expenditure, on a regular basis by providing input to the planning and expenditure monitoring tools;
  • Contributes to proper planning, management, monitoring and reporting of UNFPA project activities, resources and achievements and maintains a clear schedule of reporting to ensure timely preparation of all reports, including, quarterly, semiannual, and annual program reports in the form and substance satisfactory to UNFPA;
  • Prepares donors financial reports and coordinates EU verification missions
  • Supports monitoring and evaluation of UNFPA programme activities by tracking progress against program indicators, supports evaluation missions lead by independent evaluation team and managed by the Monitoring, Evaluation and Communications Analyst, through participation and by preparation of regular inputs as to the status and progress of specific projects.
  • Provides logistical support to the project by coordinating project related meetings, workshops and events.
  • Supports advocacy and resource mobilisation efforts of the Country Office, by establishing and maintaining a monitoring system for network of donor and public information contacts.
  • Contributes to knowledge management, including collection and categorization of various programme related documents, update and maintenance of documents;
  • Assists in preparation of various reports; conducts data collection, analysis and research;
  • Attends and supports the preparation of UN Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL) Meetings chaired by UNFPA;
  • Establishes and maintains excellent relations with implementing partners, UNFPA staff and UN agencies;
  • Carry out any other duties as may be required by UNFPA management

  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;

  • Have affinity with or interest in gender equality and human rights based approach, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

Living conditions: as this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.

UN Volunteer entitlements and allowances: The purpose of the allowances and entitlements paid to UN Volunteers is to enable UN Volunteers to sustain a secure standard of living at the duty stations in line with United Nations standards without incurring personal costs. The allowances are in no way to be understood as compensation, reward, or salary in exchange for the UN Volunteer's service. Contingent on specific eligibility criteria, location of the volunteer assignment and contractual type and category, the payment of allowances will begin from the date of Commencement of Service.
