• Improved mental health of individuals receiving support. • Effective MHPSS programmes/interventions implementation. • Enhanced awareness and understanding of MHPSS issues among the relevant stakeholders and targeted communities. • Strengthened capacity of local and national actors to address MHPSS needs. • Effective coordination and collaboration to support an integrated approach to MHPSS. • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and cooperatively and productively both with internal and external colleagues. • Good communication skills. • Age, Gender, and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated, and documented in all activities throughout the assignment. • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in, and capacities developed.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the MHPSS Analyst or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer MHPSS Officer will provide the following key responsibilities:

1) Assessment and Planning: • Conduct gender-sensitive assessments to identify the mental health and psychosocial needs of IDPs and returnees within Jeddah-1 and targeted communities. • Develop and implement MHPSS interventions per international standards and best practices. • Support the mainstreaming of MHPSS interventions into livelihoods and social cohesion programmes. • Support the development of annual work plans for the MHPSS component under the UNDP’s Social Cohesion Pillar.

2) Programme Implementation: • Support the delivery of direct psychosocial support services interventions for the targeted groups of IDPs and returnees to promote reintegration, social cohesion, and tolerance. • Support day-to-day timely and effective implementation of MHPSS interventions by UNDP implementing partners. • Facilitate group sessions and workshops to raise awareness about mental health and psychosocial topics within the communities. • Support training and capacity building on MHPSS for relevant local and national stakeholders, including local peace committees, government staff, UNDP staff, implementing partners, and social workers of youth and women volunteers in the targeted communities.

3) Monitor and Reporting: • Coordinate with Social Cohesion’s M&E Specialist to monitor and evaluate MHPSS interventions. • Support development and implementation of pre-and-post intervention and impact assessments, including drafting data collection tools and deployment of data analysis. • Conduct frequent field missions to monitor the implementation of MHPSS interventions and prepare field monitoring reports. • Support the development of reports to the relevant stakeholders, including donors, government, and others. • Support preparing result-oriented progress reports, communication and information materials, and briefing notes. • Support the maintenance of project documentation and information, including the preparation of Arabic and English translations of technical documents. • Ensure timely and quality progress reporting by implementing partners per agreed templates and schedules; review the periodic technical progress reports; and provide feedback to UNDP and partners.

4) Coordination and Collaboration: • Support to promote partnerships with relevant local and national stakeholders, including national and local authorities and community actors.
• Participate in coordination meetings and contribute to inter-agency efforts. • Support advocacy efforts to include MHPSS in national and local reintegration and return support efforts.

As this is a national UNV assignment, the incumbent will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Baghdad at the UNDP office. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions

Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): All national Specialist Volunteers are entitled to a monthly volunteer living allowance of USD 2027 USD The purpose of this allowance is to cover the basic living costs of the national UN Volunteer, and her or his family when applicable. The allowance is to ensure that the volunteer can sustain a basic, adequate and safe lifestyle. The monthly allowance rate is a fixed rate for the duty station as established by UNV headquarters. Resettlement allowance: Eligible national UN Volunteers are entitled to receive a resettlement allowance upon satisfactory completion of the assignment. The allowance assists the volunteer to reintegrate into society both professionally and personally upon completion of their UN Volunteer service.
