**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Field Office Duty Station: Dhaka Job Family: Administration Type of contract : Non Staff Level : Level 1 Duration of contract : 1 year Recruitment open to : Internal and external candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 11-NOV-2022 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office, UNESCO Dhaka and direct supervision of the Head of Administration, Messenger-Cum-Driver will perform the following duties: Long Description ---------------- **Messengerial-Services:**  Ensure cleanliness of the Office premise and equipment/furniture/desks on daily basis with assistance from the outsourced cleaners;  Ensure that packages and/or documents are delivered in a safe and time-efficient manner to the required recipient/destination;  Receive messages properly and transmit to the intended person/people properly;  Pack materials received for dispatch (attach labels, insert material in envelopes etc.);  Collect and ensure timely deposit of utility-related bills (water, telephone, electricity, newspaper etc.);  Maintain a record of daily work schedules and consult with the supervisor on task prioritization;  Safely drive the official Motorbike and maintain log sheets properly;  Assist in important external issues like banking, passport and visa matters when required (depositing/withdrawing money, submitting the payment request to the Bank, submitting visa applications and collecting passports if authorized). **General Administrative Support:**  Provide services related to copying, printing and binding documents (as necessary) using the relevant Office Equipment such as Photocopier, Printer, Binder, Laminator and so on;  Provide administrative and clerical support such as scanning, collating, filing, and distributing documents, mail, and notifications as instructed;  Provide logistical, hospitality and administrative support such as making sitting arrangements, serving snacks/food and connecting office equipment during both in-house and external meetings/workshops/Seminars;  Look after the maintenance works of office equipment (generator, AC, fire extinguisher, telephone, disinfectant devices etc.) in the Office and if any urgent/immediate maintenance is required, communicate with the vendors/workers to fix that in as per the Receptionist/ADM’s guidance;  Take office equipment to the service center and return them as required. **Backstopping Support:** • During the unavailability of the Driver(s), provide reliable and safe driving services only if authorized by the supervisor, ensuring that UNESCO’s procedures, rules and regulations and UNDSS’ safety guidelines and recommendations are strictly followed. • During the absence/unavailability of the Receptionist, the messenger will perform the following tasks: o Perform basic reception duties o Receive telephone calls and forward/inform to the concerned person. o Registration of incoming faxes, letters and other correspondences and forward/dispatch them to the concerned person/department. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- **Education:** Minimum Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.
