Contract

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The objective of the programme is to deliver WHO Core functions at country level with a particular focus on the Organization's directing and coordinating role for international health as expressed in the Constitution. The immediate Strategic Objective is to develop and sustain WHO as a flexible, learning Organization, enabling it to carry out its mandate more effectively and efficiently.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the overall guidance of the WHO Representative (WR) to Maldives and direct supervision of the Administrative Officer (AO), the incumbent will perform the following dutiesand responsibilities:

1. Carry out tasks for sorting and collating documents/mail, distribute, deliver mail/documents/packets (including bulky/heavy packages) to / from various assigned offices at regular intervals and keep records, if required;

2. Assist in receiving and dispatching of diplomatic pouch services, such as opening of pouches, segregating of mail/documentation, closing of pouches as per the guidance from WCO team members;

3. Pack various material received for dispatch, fix labels, insert material in envelopes and frank outgoing mails;

4. Punch and sort out classified papers for filing, remove/replace files in filing jackets, and deliver files to requisitioning offices;

5. Provide messengerial assistance to meetings, conferences, and events, as and when required;

6. Collect and deliver mail, pouches, and other communications to the government agencies and other institutions, as required;

7. Operate photocopier and other simple office machines for photocopying and scanning of papers;

8. Cleans daily the WHO Country Office premises, including office floors and corridors, furniture, office equipment, kitchenette, and toilets;

9. Delivers documentation to airlines offices, banks, postoffice, customs, and any other offices as and when required;

10. Assists the drivers in maintaining office vehicles as and when necessary; and

11. To perform any other messengerial duties as assigned by WR, supervisor and other senior staff.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Completion of primary level education Desirable: Basic computer usage skills.

Experience

Essential: One year's experience as messenger

Skills

  • Practical knowledge related to the work of cleaning and maintaining the office.
  • Ability to sort out and organize material for distribution/dispatch/filing etc.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions, ability to photocopy bulk documents and collate them for distribution.
  • Familiarity with equipment used in WCO Maldives.

Use of Language Skills

Essential: Intermediate knowledge of English. Expert knowledge of Dhivehi.

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at MVR 110,756 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
