Mental Health Program Supervisor
Founded in 1933, the IRC is a leading nonsectarian, voluntary organization providing relief, protection and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. In the U.S., the IRC resettles approximately 11,000 refugees per year and provides numerous program services to assist the refugee from their arrival through citizenship. The IRC in Salt Lake City opened it office in 1994, and provides resettlement services through extended case management to newly arrived refugees for up to 24-months as well as over twenty different programs to educate and empower refugees.
Under the direction of the Health Program Manager, the Mental Health Screening Coordinator is responsible for addressing mental health focused service provision for newly arrived refugees resettled by the IRC SLC office including: implementing mental health screenings and referrals to individual treatment for newly resettled refugees, coordinating intakes to treatment and follow ups to care, consistent care coordination between partner agencies and clients, addressing severe mental health and community mental and emotional wellbeing needs, facilitating staffing meetings with mental health providers and acting as the primary reference point within the IRC office for mental health related activities and concerns. This effort will center on the implementation of the Refugee Health Screener-15 (RHS-15) and coordinating with the psychosocial team to support clients accessing non-clinical interventions.
- Develop programming for Mental Health within IRC SLC, including conducting check-ins with clients reporting mental health challenges and requiring additional support during the resettlement process - Consult on and manage individual client mental health crisis and navigate safety situations with clients as they arise, providing safety planning and referrals to mental health treatment as necessary. - Support and build programming for Safety & Wellness Benchmarks conducted with clients, safety screens, individualized check-ins, MHPSS groups, and RHS-15 programming conducted at regular intervals. - Supervise Mental Health Access, MHPSS, and Mental Health Screening Specialists in mental health screenings, individual check-ins, and psychosocial support groups - Supervise Mental Health Screening Specialist supervising mental health screening data; provide regular reporting to DHHS and other funders, as required and organizing RHS-15 referrals from DHHS at 3 months and one year. - Lead training and development for new staff and interns on IRC Mental Health Team - Develop curriculum for refugee psychosocial support groups upon resettlement and monitor data collected from the group, providing regular reporting to IRC HQ and other funders as required - Monitor overseas data and information for all new arrivals for mental health related information - Conduct RHS-15 screening at three months and one year post arrival; Coordinate referrals to care as needed - Develop MSW and BSW internship programming, provide supervision for MSW/BSW level students and coordinate with IRC internal teams to provide student experiences, learning opportunities, and relevant social work training - Conduct monthly interagency staffing meetings and serve as liaison between mental health service providers and resettlement staff - Complete grant reports for Mental Health Team funding as required - Comply with all policies and protocols of the agency - Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 2-3 years of work experience in mental health; preferably with diverse/refugee population - Bachelor’s degree in mental health related field, Psychology or Social Work; - Master’s degree required for supervising MSW and BSW interns, LCSW preferred - Familiarity with the local mental health care system and means of accessing care for low-income individuals and those on Medicaid - Fluency in written and spoken English, additional knowledge of languages spoken by refugees encouraged and appreciated - Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a multi-cultural environment - Strong computer skill with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and ability to learn and utilize multiple electronic systems - Competency in data management and entry - Familiarity with confidentiality guidelines and HIPAA - Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively - Commitment to the mission of IRC and the SLC office needs and outcomes

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
