Overview of Position The MHPSS Associate is a key member of the UNHCR Protection Unit, reporting to the Senior Protection Officer or other designated protection staff. The role involves working directly with refugee and asylum-seeking communities to identify the MHPSS risks, to promote that they receive appropriate MHPSS services and supports. By doing so, the incumbent will pursue an AGD approach, ensuring that persons with specific needs and those most vulnerable and at risk will be considered in all activities.

Duties and Responsibilities - Provide MHPSS interventions, particularly Psychological First Aid, individual and group counseling as well as case management, to refugees and asylum seekers. - Manage and document cases, ensuring appropriate follow-up in coordination with other units. - Facilitate referrals and where needed accompaniment to specialized mental health services and other relevant support services as needed. - Conduct awareness-raising sessions on mental health and psychosocial well-being among refugees and asylum seekers. - assist UNHCR protection staff in assessing the MHPSS needs of refugees and asylum seekers when needed, initiate treatment and define appropriate follow up interventions. - Apply UNHCR's policies, standards and procedures around MHPSS constantly and coherently. - Provide technical guidance to UNHCR staff around MHPSS, community-based protection, child protection and case management units. - Assist functional units, Multi-Functional Teams (MFT) and senior management to integrate MHPSS approaches in the overall protection delivery strategy and operational procedures. - Perform other related duties as required. Minimum qualifications required. Education: *Clinical Psychology; *Clinical Social Work Mental Health; Psychiatry; Public Health; Social Work or other relevant field (Certificates and Licenses marked with an asterisk* are essential) Work experience: Mandatory: For G6 - 3 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 2 years relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher Desirable: Previous experience working with refugees is preferred Experience in working in the field of community-based protection, SGBV and/or child protection is an asset.

Language Requirements Arabic, English and French are required for this position.
