Overview

Serve as the liaison for child and adolescent health between the Ministry and WHO.

You have:

• First university degree in Pediatrics, Clinical or Public Nutrition, Food Science and Technology or related field from an accredited/recognized institute
• Training in Public Health, Adolescent Health, Integrated management of Childhood illnesses, Infant and Young Child Health Programme Management or Epidemiology
• At least five (5) years of experience in planning, implementation, organization and management of Public Health programmes
• Experience with WHO or other UN agencies
• Expert knowledge of French
• Intermediate knowledge of English

Contract

This is a NO-C contract. This kind of contract is known as National Professional Officers. It is normally only for nationals. It's a staff contract. It usually requires 5 years of experience, depending on education.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

contribute to the reduction of mortality and morbidity of newborns, children and for the promotion of adolescent's health and development by strengthening the national capacity in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of interventions to improve the health status, building effective partnerships with health development partners for an integrated approach to Primary Health Care.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Serve as the primary liaison for CAH between the Ministry of Health and WHO;Provide technical support to the Ministry of Health and its technical departments in the development, review and implementation of child and adolescent health policies and strategies, including training and supervision.Support the adaptation of global and regional evidence based policies, strategies and plans for child, adolescent health to fit the context of the country, with a view to reducing risk, morbidity and mortality and improving health across the life course.Build capacity for improved health service delivery for children and adolescent, at facility and community levels, and monitor progresses on health status;Facilitate national counterparts in operational researches related to child and adolescent health;Work with other clusters in the Country Office, IST and AFRO in addition to other relevant international, regional and national counterparts to advocate for WHO's work on child and adolescent health;Participate in resource mobilization and contribute to proposal development and implementation of, but not limited to, child and adolescent health and nutrition. On behalf of the WCO in DRC act as the focal point;Compile periodical reports and provide relevant programmatic information for internal and external reporting purposes.Performany other work requested by the supervisors

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: First university degree in Pediatrics, Clinical or Public Nutrition and related fields, Food Science and Technology or any other related field from an accredited/recognized institute Desirable: Training in Public Health; Adolescent Health, Integrated management of Childhood illnesses, Infant and Young Child, Health Programme Management or Epidemiology.An advanced degree in the above stated fields will be an added advantage

Experience

Essential: At least five (5) years of responsible professional experience in the planning, implementation, organization, and management of Public Health programmes in areas of CAH or food safety: policy making; research; surveillance; monitoring and evaluation; multisectoral coordination, and allied experience organization, monitoring and evaluation of activities related to CAH Desirable: Experience with WHO or other UN agencies.-Experience with health cluster partners in the area of CAH-Experience working in relevant nongovernmental or humanitarian organizations-Experience in policy development and strategic planning of CAH related activities

Skills

Sound knowledge of the principles, practice, methodology and techniques in public health, epidemiology, communicable disease surveillance and control. Ability to collect, analyze and use data for program monitoring and evaluation.Ability to monitor and communicate progress, write concise reports. Skills in programme and proposal development, project management and promotion of national capacities, Ability to work with partners proactively, including effective chairmanship of stakeholder meetings.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 68,513 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
