Since 2007, IRC has worked with refugees and other vulnerable populations in Jordan focusing on urban and camp interventions addressing health, protection, economic development, and early childhood development for Syrian refugees and host communities. IRC through its health program has been providing essential Primary and Reproductive Health (RH) services to Syrian refugees and vulnerable host communities in Jordan.

Job Overview/Summary:

The medical doctor will provide professional medical care of the highest quality and according to national and international laws and standards. Medical doctors will provide clinical treatment to patients at the IRC health facility at Mafraq Fixed clinic refugee camp operating at the primary level of health care. You will also be involved in running the practice, alone or in partnership with other GPs. You will work with a team that includes practice nurses, health visitors, midwives, counselors, and administrative support staff.

Major Responsibilities:

GP will perform the following specific activities:

1-responding to medical/health problems presented by patients including history taking, diagnosis, investigation, treatment, and referral as appropriate.

2-Applied international case definition and disease outbreak criteria in the workplace.

3-maintaining confidentiality and impartiality.

4-commissioning healthcare by collaborating closely with medical professionals in the community and Other NGOs.

5-promoting health education in conjunction with other health professionals.

6-organizing preventative medical programs for individual patients.

7-meeting targets set by the IRC and international criteria for specific treatments.

8-Keeping detailed records of all patients and the treatments they receive

9-managing resources to handle targets as effectively as possible, for example, using the NCD criteria and Referral Service.

10-have basic abilities for work, such as maintaining patients' records using specific packages.

11-keeping up to date with medical developments, new drugs, treatments, and medications, including complementary medicine.

12-Maintaining a portfolio of continuing professional development (CPD) activities.

13-Maintaining NCD management criteria.

Key Working Relationships:

Position Reports to Health Manager

Position directly reports none

Other Internal and/or external contacts.

Internal: Senior Health Officer, Medical doctors, nurses, and other health staff deployed at the health facility

External: MOH, UNHCR, UNFPA, and other health care providers in the Zaatari refugee camp

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in medicine

Work Experience: Approximately 1-3 years of relevant experience

8-Language Skills: Fluent in Arabic, English .

9-Certificates or Licenses: certificate of general practice doctor for the bachelor’s degree

Working Environment: The IRC is providing Primary health Care services to the Syrian Refugees and vulnerable Jordanian communities in Mafraq and Ramtha through fixed clinics and mobile clinics and health care delivery at the primary level in the Zaatari refugee camp. This position will be primarily based in the IRC health facility in the Zaatari refugee camp but can be based at Mafraq and Irbid health facilities or at the IRC field office when required. The security situation in the IRC intervention areas is generally calm and the security department of IRC shares regular security updates to keep the management and staff informed about new developments
