Monitoring the Egyptian news outlet and writing brief daily reports. In addition, support is needed to monitor performance of UN Women ECO digital platforms (Facebook, X, and UN Women Egypt’s website) and draft monthly reports accordingly.

UN Women monitors the Egyptian media outlets in English and Arabic to develop daily media updates summarizing the main related news to be circulated internally. The media update/report is developed in English; however, the volunteer is requested to monitor news that are published in both English and Arabic languages. The communications unit will be providing the volunteer with the template for the media update for reference and in-depth briefing on this task. Accordingly, UN Women ECO is looking for one volunteer with good writing skills to support in the development of media updates and media coverage reports.

Additionally, on monthly basis, the volunteer will also monitor the performance of UN Women ECO digital platforms and draft digital media monitoring report as per template shared by the communication unit.

Media Monitoring and Reporting: • Monitor Egyptian media outlets to identify relevant news articles mentioning UN Women Egypt and other media content based on specific topics (Women Economic Empowerment, Ending violence against women and girls) or keywords This might involve using social media listening tools, and Google search/alert. • Draft daily media updates and share with UN Women Communication team for internal dissemination. This requires good translation skills since briefs reflects on both English and Arabic articles published by the Egyptian media. • Draft monthly media coverage reports including articles mentioning UN Women. • Draft special reports documenting media coverage of specific UN Women statements and/or events. • Stay updated on current trends and developments in the above-mentioned field(s) to identify timely and relevant content.

Social Media Monitoring and Reporting: • Draft monthly digital media reports to present key insights from social media data, such as best performing posts, demographics, reach, and posts engagements. • Draft special digital media reports for specific programmes to be shared internally and with donors.

Candidates should have professional or at least advanced experience with social and other media. Familiarity with the political, social and economic context of this assignment is highly desired. Candidates should have strong English writing skills and should have basic knowledge of Arabic as well since he/she will be monitoring news/posts in both languages. Candidates are required to include samples of previous relevant work, if applicable. Knowledge of social media reporting is an asset. In addition, candidates should have excellent analytical and good writing skills.
