Job Description

- Performs the full range of organization level maintenance; scheduled and unscheduled repairs and maintenance; troubleshooting and diagnostic tests on power generation equipment. - Comprehensive knowledge of repairing and troubleshooting generator equipment. - Well experienced with diesel generators, diesel engines and electrical systems - Performing scheduled routine maintenance such as observing refueling of generators as well as changing oil and filters - Responsible for providing lists of alternators, spare parts for diesel engines, control panels and required tools and equipment - Perform emergency repairs of generators - Handle responsibilities of monitoring tools, equipment and spare parts inventory - Responsible for ensuring use of spare parts in most effective and productive manner - Performing any other related duties as assigned from time to time - Ensure all servicing activities in the related fields are carried out in full compliance with the IRC International, and as applicable local, Logistics Policies. - Maintain and service all IRC generators and vehicles, to include documentation and servicing records and supervise outside contractors if necessary. - Ensure workshop and workshop equipment is kept clean and secure at all times. - Ensure that all repairs and servicing is carried out under safe working conditions and that any defects or problems with generators and vehicles are reported immediately to the Fleet - Assistant. - Supervise fuel storage in compound, and train guards in operation and fueling of generators. - Ensure that all vehicle logbooks are correctly filled in and up-to-date on servicing records. - Ensure with storekeeper that sufficient stocks of spare parts, lubricants and other items are kept at all times in the vehicle store. - Understand, respect and obey Afghanistan Traffic rule and regulations. - Ensure that the Daily vehicle safety inspection is carried out in accordance with the Driver Transport Policy & Procedures. - To carry out daily preventive maintenance, including checking fuel and water check (radiator and wipers), lights, tires pressure, horn and general inspection of interior and exterior of the vehicle. - To undertake any other task assigned from time to time.

Safety and Security

- Responding to emergency calls, day or night, or providing support to on-site personnel, for all emergency generators and diesel fire pumps on campus is a required task within this role. - Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and safety regulations related to equipment operation, hazardous materials, traffic patterns and conditions, and other work related precautions. - Ensure that the location is known when drives the IRC vehicles and report to the Field Manger of his departure, arrival and final destinations all the time. - Ensure that each generator has been checked weekly and have the weekly check forms in file for record. - Ensure that each vehicle is carrying a Vehicle Log Sheet, a Map of Kabul, First Aid Kit, and Fire Extinguisher and on vehicles board documents are always kept update. - To report any accident, damage or defects to the vehicles to his supervisor immediately. - Ensure proper checking of his vehicle after it has returned from repair to ensure that the work it went for has been completed. To check vehicles on completion of repairs and services and if satisfied that the work has been carried out correctly, sign the Goods Received Note or if not available, the Invoice. - To ensure that all safety and emergency equipment is present and functioning in the vehicle before conducting any travel.

Other:

- Any other tasks when requested by his supervisor - To travel to any other IRC bases or provincial security-wise cleared by SSD and SCC.

- Attend and participate in trainings identified/organized by your supervisor - Follow any new procedures and guidelines designated in circulars from the Country Director

Qualifications

- Current valid Afghanistan driving license. - Excellent experience with troubleshooting on both engines and electrical systems - Basic technical knowledge of generator and vehicle - Spoken and written English skills considered desirable; local language skills (Dari and Pashto) essential. - Three (3) years of hands on experience in the maintenance of engineer equipment and generators is required. - Ability to work with very diverse workforce - Able to operate a computer with some proficiency in Microsoft Word packages (or willingness to learn) - Knowledge of city and inter-provincial roads and transport routes
