POSITION: MBU Psychologist

WORK LOCATION: Sarajevo, Transit Reception Center Usivak

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1 Position – Part time

PURPOSE OF POSITION

World Vision BiH is responding to the refugee crisis in BiH by providing social services and support to children and adult refugees. Psychologist will provide support to maintain mental health of migrants, refugees and asylum seeker children and their parents, including separated and unaccompanied migrant children, in Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) within Reception Center Usivak.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for daily implementation of project activities within the MBU
  • Implementing psychosocial activities with children and parents
  • Planning of psychosocial activities in MBU
  • Provides support to refugees
  • Provides technical and logistical support to MBU (to keep track of the number and condition of
  • Persons accommodated. to monitor the status of stocks of food, clothing, shoes, hygiene products and medicines.
  • Prepares project report inputs
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments of children to help identify the urgent needs and possible solutions for children;
  • Exchanging with other Staff in order to approach each beneficiary in the most appropriate way;
  • Facilitate and document group and individual activities and processes;
  • Assist in guiding interviews with beneficiaries to gather resources that are child-focused, respectful and demonstrative of the realities and challenges that the refugees face.
  • Creating a trustful relationship with beneficiaries;
  • Guaranteeing the confidentiality, impartiality and neutrality;
  • Provides technical and logistical support to Safeguarding aspects of children in the camp (to keep track of the number and condition of children. to monitor their needs and status.
  • Establishes collaborative relationships with partners in the camp
  • Works collaboratively with other project staff and participate in weekly staff meetings

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY FOR THE POSITION:

  • Degree in Psychology required
  • Attuned to CP issues especially in emergencies preferred
  • Willingness to travel daily and willingness to help out with all activities in MBU including cleaning
  • Willingness to work in difficult environment
  • Fluent English written and spoken preferred
  • In line with WV core values
  • Previous experience with migration context or projects would be considered as an asset.
  • Professional experience in organizations which deal with migrants or poverty alleviation is an asset;
  • Attuned to Child Protection issues especially in emergencies preferred
  • Willingness to work in difficult environment
  • Fluent English written and spoken preferred

ADDITIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AS A MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Work experience in NGO sector is preferred.
  • Ability to compromise, negotiate and work well with others.
