Result of Service- Improvement of living conditions at team sites. - Reduce the emission of carbon dioxide gases from diesel generators through the installation of solar panels systems.

Work Location Unarmed military observers camps in Western Sahara

Expected duration 9 months

Duties and Responsibilities Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of MINURSO Chief Engineer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the mason will be supported by laborer to be responsible for carrying out but not limited to the following tasks; - Liaise with the infrastructure Unit supervisor for expert advice on construction works, mason for concrete matters and other technicians as necessary - Perform all tasks related to construction works such as formworks; mixing and pouring of concrete, brickworks, plastering, laying of wall and floor tiles, finishing, painting and similar works. - Sort out material and install prefabricated containers and related works; - Interpret drawings, specifications correctly and implement its contents correctly as required; - Carry out construction and repair structural metal and woodworks. - Carry out preparation of the foundation for new structures and buildings. - Carry out construction and assembly of the solar system supporting metal and concrete frames. - Perform surveys and prepare material quantities and specifications - Monitor the UN owned tools/equipment and material inventory - Adhere to all UN and international safety standards and applicable building codes, - Identify the best methodologies to address development issues related to construction works and suggests the best fit for construction methodologies. - Develop sketches for "As-built Drawings" for implemented works - Carryout preventive maintenance and repair of facilities and infrastructures as required. - Perform other related duties as required by the Chief Engineer and the unit supervisor.

Qualifications/special skills Possession of high school and preferably with apprenticeship certificate in building construction related trade (construction, metal works, carpentry works, ...etc.) Minimum of 6 years of experience in masonry building construction field (brick construction, plastering, and laying of wall and floor tiles, concrete mixing and pouring).

Languages Official working language in the mission is English. Basic communication skills (Understanding and speaking) in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic / or Spanish language is an asset.
