Under the general supervision of the Fundraising Assistant GS-5 and the general guidance of the Individuals Fundraising Officer NO-A, assist in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the fundraising retention/cultivation strategy (line and circle). The main purpose of the post is to assist in attracting and cultivating long term relations with individual donors’ channel to secure and increase a sustainable source of pledged contributions and develop and maintain statistical and behavioral information of the individuals donors. The strategy would include cultivation/retention of the fundraisers and corporate partners.

How can you make a difference?

  • Exhaustive planning of the donors’ cultivation and retention program.
    • Assist in the definition of objectives, strategies, contents, components and timing of the different activities and campaigns.
    • Assist in the preparation of the cultivating and retention campaign’s KPI by providing reports.
  • Effective implementation of donors’ cultivation and retention program.
    • Assist in the definition and development of content by collecting data from UNICEF’s vision, children’s rights and work for children in the country and abroad for all kind of content materials for pledge donors.
    • Assists to implement different activities and campaigns that increase lifetime support value (welcoming, nurturing actions, saving, upgrading and ad hoc actions for each defined target).
    • Produce periodic reports and ad hoc reports of activities that are undertaken, according to the house list cultivation and retention program.
  • Maintain excellent knowledge about donors and their behavior. Identification and segmentation of the database.
    • Assist in the knowledge and analysis of donors and their behavior (donor’s insight) by generating reports and basic analysis.
    • Assist in the implementation of researches in order to understand donor’s behavior, needs and emotional bonds with UNICEF by coordinating the researches
  • Reduce the risk of donors’ cancellations and optimize the business practices.
    • Assist in the identification of the new business practices that could be introduced or suggest modifications to existing practices that could reduce the risk of donors’ cancellations.
    • Assist in the implementation of the new business practices and modifications to existing practices
    • Prepare periodic reports and basic analysis

Impact of Results:

Individual fundraising operation in Ecuador CO needs an operational capacity associated with the implementation of all the processes

associated with this strategy: acquisition, saving, cultivation, retention, value maximization, etc. The office is focused in improving these activities and that is the main reason it will be necessary to perform actions aimed at increasing levels of pledge donors’ retention as a complement of the donors’ acquisition strategy.

To implement the future individual fundraising work plans aimed at increase the income, Ecuador CO need to reinforce the team operational capacities. The proposed post (GS4) will help the strengthening and expansion of the retention strategy.

This post will contribute to the support of the fundraising growth by:

• Increasing levels of pledge donors’ retention (reduce cancellations – attrition) and life time through the line and circle process (planning,implementation and monitoring).

• Increasing contributions through the effective implementation of saving and upgrade campaigns.

• Raise awareness of pledge donors with children’s rights.

• Providing and using information about donors’ behavior.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of Secondary School. Technical and/or University level courses or degree in marketing, sales, publicity, communication, business administration or related areas will be an asset.
  • A minimum of 4 years of practical work experience in customer loyalty/cultivation/retention, post-sale services, processes of mass contact with customers’ databases (emailing, direct marketing, telemarketing, SMS, Whatsapp, etc.), benefit chains/cards for massive groups of people or similar services.
  • Fluency in Spanish is essential. Working knowledge of English. Excellent communication and writing skills in Spanish is required.
