Organizational Setting

The position is located at the Zugdidi project office of FAO Representation in Georgia. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by the FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

Market Specialist of Niche Products will work under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator, and the direct supervision of the National Dairy Specialist based in Zugdidi.

Technical Focus

• Ensure and promote the linkage between FFS beneficiaries and HORECA representatives • Conduct market research/Needs Assessment in HORECA sector (Which kind of dairy product is more popular and demanded in the market)

Tasks and responsibilities

• Engage with HORECA representatives and discover their wants and needs • Closely communicated with FFS farmers, identify availability of cheese variety, cheese quantity. • Build lasting relationships with customers by contacting them to follow up on purchases, suggest purchase options and invite them to upcoming events. • Present products using interactive materials such as videos, charts, slideshows etc. • Prepare promotion information, banners, and leaflet to present each FFS. Assist beneficiaries in designing labels for their products. • Disseminate product samples, brochures, flyers etc. • Organize and plan events, market exhibitions. • Report on the results of network establishment between FFS farmers and HORECA, Sales progress. • Keep good communication with other team members, responding promptly to others’ requests. • Other duties as assigned.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Agribusiness or equivalent of a diploma • A minimum of the three years related work experience; two years of relevant experience as a product promotion • Working knowledge (level C) of English; knowledge of Mengrelian is an asset • National or resident of Georgia.
