STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor Degree in Statistics, Nutrition, Public Health, Agriculture, Food Security, Social Science, Economics, International Development

Experience

Relevant professional experience acquired in nutrition issues linked to agriculture, rural development, health, education and/or water and sanitation. Experience doing similar analyses, stakeholder mapping or Monitoring & Evaluation. Experience depicting key findings in graphs, maps, charts and other visual aids. Experience in knowledge and information management is an asset.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The REACH Facilitator and the international mapping consultant will supervise the national mapping consultant with the support of the UN Nutrition-REACH Secretariat to provide technical backstopping and quality assurance.

JOB PURPOSE

The national mapping consultant will work to provide day-to-day oversight of the exercise and strengthen the technical capacity to carry out the mapping in Lesotho in collaboration with the Food and Nutrition Coordinating Office, (FNCO), the Multi-sectoral Mapping Technical Team, the REACH Facilitator, an international mapping consultant and the UN Nutrition-REACH Secretariat.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Guide day-to-day implementation of the mapping process within the defined timeline
  • Familiarize themselves with the REACH web-based mapping tool and support the training of the technical team and data collectors on the tool, facilitated by the UN Nutrition-REACH Secretariat
  • Work with DHIS2 experts to create the metadata and customize the tool to the country context and the exercise objectives
  • Support the migration process of the web-based mapping tool on the national DHIS2 server
  • Oversee and guide the data collection and data cleaning process
  • Support the technical team in the analysis and presentation of the results
  • Ensure regular monitoring and reporting to the REACH Facilitator, international mapping consultant and the UN Nutrition - REACH Secretariat

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Competencies

  • Proficient in English
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Understanding and knowledge of Government structures, development situation and key issues in nutrition
  • Familiarity with food and nutrition security issues relevant to the country
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct interviews and engage with a variety of stakeholders and work with a team
  • Familiarity with DHIS2
  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
