You have:
- Demonstrated experience in Land Use Land Cover Change (LULCC) analysis/mapping.
- Familiarity with remote sensing software such as ArcGIS, ENVI, ERDAS, and/or Google Earth Engine.
- Comfortable working with satellite data such as Landsat, Sentinel, MODIS, etc.
- Availability for approximately 10-15 hours per week for 12 weeks.

Morobe Development Foundation Inc. is looking for two Online Volunteers with professional experience in the field of remote sensing and/or GIS to help with publishing two high impact journal articles in the field of conservation and forestry. The candidates should have previous experience with performing Land Use Land Cover Change (LULCC) classification and analysis and for the current project, they will be applying LULCC for exploring deforestation and coastal development patterns observed at Papitalai, Manus Island, Papua New Guinea in the past 35 years (1984-2019) using Landsat 5, 6 and 8 imagery. Using various machine learning, classification and remote sensing techniques the extracted information would be employed for developing predictive models targeted at leatherback turtle habitat conservation. Online Volunteers, based on their level of contributions, would be acknowledged and/or invited to be a co-author in the accompanying publications.

Morobe Development Foundation Inc. is a not-for-profit organization based in Papua New Guinea and was established to promote sustainable community development initiatives and thereby address several exigent issues – ranging from environmental conservation to women rights – that are hindering the progress of the country. Few of our ongoing projects focus on applications of various remote sensing technologies – such as drones and satellite imagery – for monitoring forest growth, tracking land use land change patterns, evaluating land feasibility for building educational resource centers and conserving sea turtle habitats. We are currently looking for two Online Volunteers who can help us with mapping Land Use Land Cover Change (LULCC) (approximately 10-15 hours per week). The final results will be aggregated and analyzed accordingly and be made a part of accompanying research publications.

11-20 hours per week / 12 weeks
