Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The position Manager - Research will be responsible for taking the in country lead role for the research realetd activities undertaken by ERICC in Cox’s Bazar. The possible activities will be supporting the Research Specialist and Research Data Manager in the adaptation and development of a country research scan, the development of KII instruments and protocols, review of existing EiCC literature and co-construction of the research agenda and plans for in-country research to respond to Cox’s Bazar’s priority and needs for educational research. The position will be directly reportable to Research Specialist and will closely work with Education Coordinator, Regional Education Technical Advisor and Regional Research Director.

Highlights of Key Responsibilities

The Manager Research will perform a variety of tasks in leading the research activities including, but not limited to:

· Support Research specialist country scan workplan, SoP for ways of working with multiple stakeholders within ERICC and communication matrix development in consultation with Education Coordinator (EC), Regional Education Technical Advisor (TA) and Regional Research Director (RRD).

· Coordinate input in Multi-country ‘Country Scan’ template for Cox’s Bazar

· Support development of KII data collection instruments in consultation with relevant peoples.

· Support development of comprehensive evidence or literature review of existing education research reports, briefs, peer reviewed publications and education policies.

· Work closely with country advisory committee in Cox’s Bazar, including overseeing arrangement and establishment and regular meeting schedule.

· Coordinate engagement and planning with country-based institutions and FCDO education advisers to establish research dissemination priorities.

· Support the development of plans for user research priority, to inform communications & dissemination strategy - for selected first phase countries.

· Organize and maintain ongoing engagement with country advisory committee.

· Support the timely development and delivery of research plans and research uptake strategies through Community of Practice engagement, vetting/reviews

· Support Research Specialist to organize country advisory committee engagement workshops (in-person and virtual) in Cox's Bazar.

· Support the identification of evidence gaps in EiCC in Cox’s Bazar through reviewing the country scan report and supporting the development of KII protocols

· Support the development of research plans and contingency research plan for Cox’s Bazar.

· Engage on conceptual framework revision with other consortium partners.

· Support in developing of multi-country research implementation strategy guidance note.

· Organize and coordinate the Country scan working group.

· Support the development of research uptake plan and plans for continuous technical collaborator engagement in Cox's Bazar.

· Participate in cohort 1 check ins and individual partners check in with global ERICC members and the NYU-based Research Directorate

Qualifications

Experience and Competencies: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Minimum 5 year of relevant work experience required; specific experience on literature review, research plan development preferred

· Excellent project management and organizational skills, particularly managing research projects; meticulous attention to detail

· Fluent in English and Bangla; fluent in Rohingya, Chittagonian, or Burmese a plus

· A strong understanding of research methods and prior training/experience in conducting both qualitative and quantitative research

· Flexible, independent, self-motivating, ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work under pressure

· Ability to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment

Specific Educational Qualification

· Master’s degree in education, economics, anthropology, international development, public policy, or related fields required;
