Management Services Division

The Management Services Division and the Administration functional area is a community of over 3,000 team members, worldwide – ranging in specialized workstreams managing Assets, Travel, Fleet, Facilities, Environmental Sustainability, and more! The Administration functional area prides itself on providing quality customer service while ensuring that WFP operations reach its beneficiaries, smoothly, even in the toughest conditions. We are seeking a Data Scientist to be home-based to receive, store, process, and, analyse data to promote accountability, controls, and efficiencies, resulting in stronger services. The Data Scientist will streamline digital analysis for the division and function, receiving and maintaining large amounts of varied and unstructured data, processing and generating meaningful data analysis, while upholding data privacy and security standards. You will work closely with teams of specialized service providers and our field-based end-users as well as other teams to understand the organization's needs and develop requirements and specifications for data-related solutions.

This Data Scientist Consultant will be under the supervision of the Director, Management Services Division.

About the role!

  • Partnering with a diverse range of stakeholders to extract impactful insight from our existing data, while finding opportunities to track other sources
  • Provide consultation and guidance to non-technical audiences and develop and implement guidance on integrating advanced data and analysis in routine decision-making processes
  • Building dashboards and reports that provide visibility into how WFP uses the services of the Management Division
  • Identifying, examining, and analyzing raw data to identify trends and assessments to aggregate disparate information required for reporting and analytics
  • Researching corporate and satellite data sources and identify corrections to existing data, as needed
  • Designing and analyzing experiments to answer key business questions
  • Building data pipelines and models that enable incisive analyses and performant data visualizations
  • Respond to a variety of data-related queries to ensure that solutions are provided, and information is provided and presented accurately, and efficiently

About you!

  • Experience (at least 5 years) working with large data sets and summarizing data for business (data collection, management, cleaning, processing, and applied analysis)
  • Familiarity with data warehousing and business intelligence concepts
  • Big data storing and retrieving skills on cloud platforms
  • Experience using visualization tools (preferably Tableau) and setting up dashboards
  • Ability to capture requirements and translate into insights
  • Strategic sense and proven experience in regular reporting and synthesizing emerging information
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Strong knowledge of Python and/or R
  • Statistical modeling/Machine learning
  • Strong ability to craft analysis independently
  • Experience communicating work to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse set of senior management and stakeholders
  • Ability to work flexibly, creatively, and to multitask as required; reprioritizing as required
  • Mature judgment
  • Experience in working in a multicultural environment
  • Great communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
  • Perform other duties, as requested (including occasional travel)

Qualifications & Key Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline, such as science, technology, engineering, statistics, economics is required. A Master’s degree in one of these disciplines is highly desirable

Language:

Fluency (level C) in English – written, spoken, and oral comprehension.
