You have:
- A first-level university degree in social sciences, geology, geography, international relations, administration, or related areas is required.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience related to urban resilience or disaster risk reduction (DRR) or risk analysis or DRR governance is required.
- Experience in training and capacity building in DRR or climate change or risk analysis or related areas is required.
- Experience in stakeholders' engagement at the local level is desirable.
- Experience within the United Nations system or any other similar international organization is desirable.
- Prior experience with MCR2030 tools is desirable.
- Fluency in Portuguese is required.
- Knowledge of English is desirable.

Implementation of a virtual introductory course in Portuguese on the Principles of Making Cities Resilient – MCR2030, aimed at strengthening the institutional capacities of local governments in the state of Rio de Janeiro. At the end of the training, the municipalities should be able to advance in their MCR2030 journey.

Duties and Responsibilities
Created in December 1999, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is the designated focal point in the United Nations system for the coordination of efforts to reduce disasters and to ensure synergies among the disaster reduction activities of the United Nations and regional organizations and activities in both developed and less developed countries. Led by the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction (SRSG/ASG), UNDRR has over 160 staff located in its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and in regional offices. UNDRR guides, monitors, analyzes, and reports on progress in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030. It supports local, regional, and national implementation of the Framework and catalyzes action and increases global awareness to reduce disaster risk working with UN Member States and a broad range of partners and stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians, and the science and technology community. The consultant will be home-based and will work under the supervision of the MCR2030 Regional Coordinator of the Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean. The consultant will support the implementation of the MCR2030 initiative with a particular focus on the cities of the state of Rio de Janeiro In Brazil. Duties and Responsibilities: a. Develop and design virtual classes on the 10 Essentials Principles of Making Cities Resilient – MCR2030 in Portuguese. b. Deliver between 8 to 10 virtual classes, each with a duration of approximately 2 hours, in Portuguese. c. Develop the course syllabus using UNDRR and MCR2030 publications and documents, including practical training on the MCR2030 Scorecard and the addenda for gender equity and climate resilience. The course must adopt a gender perspective and a people-centered approach. d. Assess the progress and engagement of the trainee cities in the MCR2030 Resilient Journey. e. Identify and collect good practices and lessons learned that can be used as examples to share knowledge during the training. f. Manage the virtual course through the Universidade do Ambiente (http://www.inea.rj.gov.br/ ). g. Provide assistance to attendees throughout the training period to address questions and clarify doubts, ensuring maximum learning achievement.
Qualifications/special skills
