This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the UN RCO Team Leader & Strategic Planner, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support data and evidence generation and delivery of valid and reliable information on the attainment of the SDGs and national goals, and on the performance of UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and UN-supported programmes in the MCO context;
  • Identify new catalytic solutions to support inter-agency efforts on results and progress monitoring and reporting on the UNPS and Joint Programmes, in particular supporting set up of UNINFO;
  • Ensure that UN uses a well-prioritized and realistic plan of monitoring and evaluation activities that will provide the most relevant and strategic information;
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the UNCT reporting, data and research strategies, in alignment with the UNPS as we as development of the new Cooperation Framework between the North Pacific Government and the United Nations;
  • Support the UN’s active engagement in innovations initiatives, seeking out opportunities for innovative solutions to programmatic challenges, and developing and scaling user-centred products in support of programme monitoring and delivery;
  • Supports knowledge management and capacity development related to data and monitoring.Support the inter-agency coordination aspects of the UNSDCF, including but not limited to:
  1. Provide effective and efficient coordination support to the Pacific Joint UN Country Team (resident and non-resident agencies) in undertaking their work according to mandates
  2. Provide support to the UN Pacific Strategy evaluation and development of the next UNSDCF
  3. Foster synergies across the outcome groups and other inter-agency working groups to enhance UN’s support to national and regional priorities in achieving the SDGs

Experience remark

  • Experience with development coordination in a regional context; within the Pacific region would be advantageous.
  • Experience with data management and demonstrated analytics proficiency.
  • Experience with M&E and reporting.
  • Experience with building and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Relevant experience within the UN system or an international organization is desirable.
  • Understanding of the Pacific development architecture is desirable.

Language skills

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
