You have:

  • Master's Degree in public health, humanitarian response, logistics management, or in a related field.
  • Professional certification in humanitarian logistics, medical logistics and/or supply chain management is highly desirable.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in humanitarian logistics management including distribution, storage, transportation and operations in emergency settings.
  • Experience in managing health supplies, including RH supplies.
  • Demonstrated networking and working experience with key development partners and stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
  • Understanding of UN humanitarian programming and operations, knowledge of UNFPA humanitarian programming an advantage.
  • Strong ability to develop partnerships, network and communicate clearly.
  • Fluency in English; working knowledge of other official UN languages is desirable.

Contract

This is a P-3 contract. This kind of contract is known as Professional and Director staff. It is normally internationally recruited only. It's a staff contract. It usually requires 5 years of experience, depending on education.

Salary

The salary for this job should be between 107,345 USD and 140,560 USD.

Salary for a P-3 contract in Addis Ababa

The international rate of 74,649 USD, with an additional 43.8% (post adjustment) at this the location, applies. Please note that depending on the location, a higher post adjustment might still result in a lower purchasing power.

The Position:

The Logistics Specialist will closely work with the programme and operations staff, UN agencies, implementing partners, supply chain management unit and inventory control team ensuring effective logistics management to support the UNFPA programme delivery. This is a Temporary Appointment for 364 days.

The Logistics Specialist will report to the International Operations Manager.

Job Purpose:

In a complex operating environment, the Logistics Specialist will play a critical role in the UNFPA programme delivery for the health and protection needs of women and girls The Logistics Specialist will closely work and collaborate with the country office staff, UN agencies and other partners particularly the WFP Logistics Cluster to coordinate the logistics for UNFPA supplies including; the emergency reproductive health kits, medical equipment and supplies, dignity kits and other misc commodities and supplies.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

Master's Degree/ Advanced university degree in public health, humanitarian response, logistics management, or in a related field. Professional certification in humanitarian logistics, medical logistics and/or supply chain management is highly desirable.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in humanitarian logistics management including distribution, storage, transportation and operations in emergency settings.
  • Experience in challenging and complex humanitarian/emergency settings;
  • Experience in managing health supplies, including RH supplies.
  • Demonstrated networking and working experience with the key development partners and stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
  • Experience and understanding of UN humanitarian programming and operations, knowledge of UNFPA humanitarian programming an advantage.
  • Strong negotiating skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to self-manage, emotional intelligence, empathy, team spirit and conflict management.
  • Strong ability to develop partnerships, network and communicate clearly.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English; working knowledge of other official UN languages is desirable.
