At WFP, we are looking for an experienced Logistics Officer (Workshop) to be hired on a Fixed Term Contract at the NOB level to be based in Khartoum.

JOB PURPOSE
To contribute to daily planning and coordination of WFP Fleet workshop operations including monitoring of services provided by contracted external organizations to ensure cost-effective operations and that set objectives are achieved in full.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Under the direct supervision of the International Logistics Officer, the Logistics Officer (Workshop), NOB will be responsible for the following.
- Contribute towards development of fleet operational plans on the basis of the fleet size, loading capacity and effective serviceable hours of vehicles, ensuring compliance with wider logistics policies and WFP standards.
- Ensure that all new fleet assets are properly recorded, maintained and in turn, written off in accordance to WFP’s regulations.
- Support logistics projects and operational day-to-day activities following standard processes, in particular with regard to vehicle maintenance, spare parts supplies and cost-effective use of the fleet to support WFP mandated activities.
Liaise with all vehicle and equipment users or operators within WFP on matters relating to maintenance, repair inspection & overhaul of trucks, vehicles and generators including the provision of guidance, information and assistance to ensure that utilisation is optimised, costs are minimised and all safety/ legal requirements are satisfactorily achieved
Design, implement and manage preventative maintenance schedules and ensure that these are strictly adhered to in all locations.
- Collect and analyse data, such as vehicle maintenance history through the use of WFP’s Fleet Management System (FMS), to recommend actions to improve performance of local logistics operations: e.g. preventive maintenance, important intervention for unjustifiable cost (vehicle downtime) and vehicle age analysis.
- Responsible for the identification and rectification of technical problems. Identify potential warranty claims and liaise with the manufacturers to follow up all claims. Plan, implement, coordinate and manage campaigns and technical modification programs.
- Continuously collect and collate valuable data or information relating to improvements required for standardisation and development purposes for fleet management and communicate this information to other staff in the Fleet Unit.
Supervise support staff in gathering timely maintenance records and maintaining accurate data in the Fleet Management System (FMS) and acting as a point of referral and supporting them with analysis and queries. Share experience gained with other staff members and strive towards creating good team building and harmonious atmosphere.
Setup an infrastructure to ensure that all tools & equipment including special tools are stored safely and used correctly for their intended purpose.
- Provide management oversight for the recovery of broken down vehicles and equipment, utilizing proper techniques to minimize risk of damage.
- Ensure that the quality of fuel and lubricants is in accordance to contracts and or manufacturers specifications.
- Ensure that all repairs and maintenance performed to vehicles and machinery is in accordance to the required standards established to achieve maximum reliability with minimum downtime and quality workshop management maintained.
- Responsible for the operational aspects to ensure that spare parts and materials are delivered to each location on a timely basis.
- Other as required.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or other related field or First University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or other related fields with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses
Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in logistics management, supply chain management or related fields is required for holders of an advanced university degree, or five years of relevant professional experience in logistics management, supply chain management or related fields is required for holders of a first university degree. Additional years of experience and training will be an advantage.
Language: Fluency in both English and Arabic.

• Experience in commercial or humanitarian transportation sectors. • Experience monitoring and reporting on transport and freight market conditions and trends. • Experience in dealing with shipments and clearing imports/exports with customs officials. • Experience coordinating procurement and transportation processes with other units/ teams. • Experience in warehouse and commodity management. • Experience working with corporate systems (databases, software).
