Logistics Officer

The Role:

The incumbent will be the program’s primary contact for medical logistics operations. He or she will monitor the national pipelines for all medical products to ensure sufficient quantities are readily available. The position holder will provide technical assistance in-country logistics and inventory management of medical products.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning

  • Participate and assist in forecasting, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating supply chain operations.
  • Communicates constantly with stakeholders with updated order status information
  • Supports in medical products data collection, data entry, analysis and reporting

In-country logistics

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage in-country logistics operations.
  • Assist with scheduling distribution to meet requested delivery dates and ensure deliveries are made on time.
  • Provide periodic HPM support supervision of TB health facilities.
  • Process documentation for logistics operations and resolve operational issues, escalating complex issues to the supervisor.
  • Ensures that transport of medical goods complies with pharmaceutical laws and regulations standards
  • Assists with customs-clearance procedures for all medical goods
  • Communicates constantly with stakeholders with updated order status information
  • Ensures adherence to the Good Distribution Practice
  • Checks for conformity upon receipt of goods and during dispatch using the order documentation and general regulations
  • Regularly monitors laboratory equipment and auxiliary equipment, plans for preventive maintenance and repairs

Warehousing & inventory management

  • Provide technical support for warehousing and inventory management at storage facilities according to prescribed standards.
  • Ensure that accounting, reporting, and internal control systems are accurate and complete and that all relevant records are kept up to date.
  • Monitor TB health product inventory to track trends and ensure proper distribution from source to beneficiary.
  • Conduct regular physical counts of inventory in the warehouse, including checks on expiry dates and reports

Essential:

At least three years of relevant work experience in public health supply chain Experience in quantification, procurement, warehousing, distribution, and general commodities management Knowledge of the procurement and distribution of pharmaceuticals will be an added advantage. Degree/Diploma in the following fields: Health Logistics, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration, or social sciences Health or Pharmaceutical qualifications will be an added advantage.

Working Environment:

The position will be based in Mogadishu with regular travel to other field locations based on the Project needs.
