How can you make a difference?

The Logistics Officer (In-Country Logistics) supports optimization and efficiency in UNICEF’s warehousing operations in the field. Under the supervision of the logistics specialist in the Warehouse Inventory Management Centre and working closely with colleagues in WIMC, ICT, DFAM and relevant centers in SD; support the roll-out and implementation of the mWIMS project, in addition, support colleagues in the fields on Warehouse and Inventory management processes on In Country Logistics with direct impact on programme results.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  1. Provide oversight, technical and business process support on VISION warehouse and inventory management modules as well as mInventory to ROs/COs.
  2. Support management reports based on the analysis of UNICEF controlled inventory held in country and regional offices’ warehouses
  3. Support in the development of standard operating procedures for Regional and Country Office Warehouse and Inventory management processes.
  4. Support the year-end inventory count of UNICEF country offices in collaboration with DFAM, especially around mInventory usage.
  5. Participate in the development, planning, organizing and conducting warehouse and inventory management training and knowledge sharing events for UNICEF country offices.
  6. Participate in field missions for specific technical assistance when required along with mWIMS roll-out.
  7. Provide follow-up and support to mWIMS onboarded countries post roll-out.
  8. Any other duties or assignments as requested by the supervisor

Education

  • A first level university degree (Bachelor's) in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Contract/Commercial Law, International Development, Health or related social science field.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, at the national and international levels, in supply, logistics, warehousing and inventory management in particular.
  • Strong expertise in the Country office logistical functions is required. Experience of mInventory application (mWIMS project) in supporting colleagues remotely as well as on site is an asset.
  • Experience in providing training and troubleshooting in VSION is an asset as well as supporting offices cross borders.
  • Knowledge and experience with SAP/VISION logistical WM module is a requirement.

Languages

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
