Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Bor. Bor is classified in the "E" category and as a non-family duty station. The incumbent provides and coordinates logistics support to ongoing air, land and river operations in the area, as well as support to military, police, security and substantive components of the mission. She/he also identifies, mobilizes resources, implements and reports on special logistics operations.

Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Chief of Mission Support Centre, Field Administrative Officer and within delegated authority, the Logistics Officer at this level will be responsible for the following duties: •Coordinates and provides logistics support to ongoing air, land and river operations in the area. •Identifies, mobilizes resources, implements, and reports on special logistics operations. •Provides and coordinates logistics support to military, police, security, and substantive components of the mission. •Coordinates the implementation of Logistic Support Plans (LSP), state emergency contingency plans in the field, in collaboration with other support sections of the mission and under the guidance of the Field Administrative Officer (FAO). •Liaises and coordinates logistics support with other units within the Mission Support Division, such as; Engineering, transportation, communications, movement control and procurement, and outside MSD with security and substantive offices. Work in coordination with COE HQ and COE verification missions to ensure all logistic responsibilities are provided especially during rotations of TCCs. •Coordinates logistics requirements with other UN and non-UN organizations in the Mission / country, and Host Government entities. •Ensures that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained. •Ensures that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs. •Performs other related duties as required.

    Education Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in logistics, business administration, public administration, engineering, or another relevant field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

    Work Experience A minimum of five (05) years of progressively responsible experience in logistics operations in military, commercial or international organizations, or related area is required. Experience working in a United Nations field operation or similar organization in a conflict or post conflict setting is desirable.

    Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
