UNOPS-ETMCO is recruiting for this position: Logistics Intern, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Qualified women (female) candidates are encouraged to apply. The internship is learning and working opportunity that targets fresh graduates. The Logistics Intern will assist the Logistics team to efficiently and effectively manage Logistics and support to the Ethiopia Multi-Country Office (ETMCO). The intern will be exposed to practical learning and working experiences that foster development of his /her path. The Intern will work full time and follow the same working hours as UNOPS employees. Functional Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Logistics specialist, the Logistics Intern shall perform the following duties including, but not limited to:

  • Understand and learn the overall logistics activities of UNOPS Ethiopia office by undergoing on the job training provided by the logistics team and with close supervision from the Logistics Specialist.
  • Learn how the logistics team is delivering and inspecting cargos at partners’ warehouses.
  • Support the logistics team with daily tasks and collecting and delivering documents from/to partners’/customs/freight forwarders’/different government offices.
  • Under the guidance of the Logistics Specialist, liaise with freight forwarders in facilitating customs clearance processes.
  • Accompany UNOPS’ colleagues in paying site visits to understand how pre-delivery inspections are performed at freight forwarder’s/Partner’s warehouses as needed.
  • Familiarize and provide support with the functions that enable the adminstration of the office and the logistics function.
  • Understand what a good record and filing of logistics documents look like.
  • The intern will also be able to participate in several on-the-job trainings and will also be exposed to the daily work of UNOPS in the field.
  • The intern will also have access to the UNOPS’ learning platform and along with the supervisor, will be able to undergo skills’ training and other training that will be relevant to the area of the internship.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

A. Education Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in Logistics and Procurement or related fields. B. Work Experience

  • Applicants are not required to have professional work experience.
  • Applicants should have graduated from the above stated fields within three (3) years prior to the application date of the internship.

C. Language Requirements - Fluency in written, reading and oral English is required.

D. Computer Literacy Knowledge & usage of Google suite applications is an asset.

Terms and Conditions

  • For staff positions only, UNOPS reserves the right to appoint a candidate at a lower level than the advertised level of the post.

Contract type, level and duration - Internship

Contract type: Internship Contract level: N/A Contract duration: 6 months

This internship is not designed to lead to a staff position with UNOPS. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of the internship.

Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend from UNOPS provided that they do not receive funds from other institutions. Further, UNOPS may provide a one time travel lumpsum of 500 USD. However, they must make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and necessary visa arrangements.
