The Warehouse Inventory and Management Center (WIMC) at the UNICEF Supply Division (SD) contributes to the overall objective of ensuring timely access of good quality strategic supplies for children. WIMC manages efficient and effective warehouse operations in Copenhagen, the network of global hubs and In Country Logistics (ICL) support to field offices warehouse operations.

The incumbent works in ICL with colleagues from Head Quarters, Regional Offices and Country Offices (COs) and other relevant centers in Supply Division to assist in execution and implementation of activities aimed at improving and optimizing the warehouse and inventory function in Country and regional Offices.

How can you make a difference?

Under the general guidance of the Logistics Specialist provide direct support to country offices in terms of warehousing and inventory management of UNICEF supplies.

  1. Provide technical guidance and support to COs in the area of Warehouse and Inventory Management.
  2. Perform periodic monitoring and analysis of the program supplies at the global level to identify concerns and areas of improvement, based on agreed upon indicators. Suggest new indicators and measures to further improve the existing monitoring tools of program supplies.
  3. Continuous review and update of work instructions; and ensure their availability to field colleagues.
  4. Provide system and process support to COs in VISION System and mobile applications in the area of Warehouse and Inventory Management. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for COs Warehouse and Inventory Management modules and assist with troubleshooting.
  5. Contribute to the development of continuous system and process optimization and enhancements of the Warehouse and Inventory modules. Participate in testing of related systems and development of user guides and webinars.
  6. Monitor the physical inventory counts of UNICEF country offices, raise critical issues and provide guidance for remedial action.
  7. Support in conducting Warehouse and Inventory Management training to UNICEF staff and partners.
  8. Undertake field missions upon request to support Regional and Cos in the areas of Warehouse and inventory management.
  9. Any other duties or assignments as requested by the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Completion of secondary education
  • At least 6 years of relevant work experience in Supply Chain management, Logistics, Warehouse, and Inventory Management.

For this position, a bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a relevant field may replace three years of related work experience.

A master’s degree may replace an additional two years.

  • At least 2 years of experience using SAP (ERP system).
  • Advanced level in Excel.
  • Proficient level in software such as Word, Publisher, Power Point.
  • Fluency in English

Desirables:

  • Technical or University level courses in business.
  • Knowledge of another UN language (Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese, Arabic).
