What will you do

  1. Receiving of local and international shipments at AAIA warehouse from different sources.
  2. Oversee the dispatch and receiving process and ensure that the quality and quantity of product corresponds to the documents.
  3. Coordinating the stocks with internal partners and flagging any shortfall.
  4. Issuance of air waybills against the STOs and maintaining the copies in good order.
  5. Weekly and daily dispatch plan and sharing the plan with the concerned units and individuals.
  6. Ensure that the commodity dispatched to the cooperating partners is duly labelled with handheld printer
  7. Ensure that the Temperature Controlled Units (TCU) used to store nutritious products and medicines are well functioning and optimally used.
  8. Coordinate loading of the cargo aircrafts with UNHAS, transporter and airport authorities.
  9. Ensure that the only the sound cargo with acceptable packaging is dispatched.
  10. Ensure optimal use of the air assets on the ground and troubleshoot problems both at Mogadishu and receiving airstrips.
  11. Ensure obtaining Airstrip clearance from UNDSS well ahead of loading day.
  12. Ensure the monthly distribution targets are reached and propose alternatives and solutions when targets not met.
  13. Filing of airlift related documents for easy retrieval when required.
  14. Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports on the logistics activities at AAIA.
  15. Willing to support other logistics operations in Mogadishu at different locations

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in transport economics, logistics, port and shipping, procurement, and administration.

Experience: Five years of progressively responsible experience in one or more areas of the transportation and ancillary sectors: port operations, shipping, clearing, and forwarding, air operations, large scale road/rail transport, and distribution management gained from a reputable organization

Languages: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Somalia is a requirement.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of logistics, warehousing, commodity handling practices.
  • Ability to work with different cultures.
  • Experience maintaining corporate systems and running queries on ongoing shipments, pipeline information, and food stock.
