The purpose of this position is to oversee the day-to-day implementation of the emergency activities under the guidance of Emergency Coordinator. The emergency team leader is also responsible to ensure transparency, accountability, and quality of work on the ground adhere to NRC policies and are in consideration with humanitarian principles.

The purpose of the Assistant position is day to day implementation of the support functions responsibilities. Use actions words such as ensure, implement or assist for the position relevant responsibilities.

Role and responsibilities

The following is a brief description of the role.

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines, and donor requirements
  2. Assist with the implementation of the procurement function’s portfolio according to procurement monthly work plans and work and development plan.
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by line manager
  4. Manage and control fleet movement to ensure quality functioning according to logistics SoPs.
  5. Monitor and track fuel stock and consumption, insure contingency availability.
  6. Contribute to the Preparation of regular KPIs, relevant fleet/fuel and warehouse reports.
  7. As required, prepare RfQ and share them with relevant suppliers and participate to tender process at various stages. IE gather quotations and prepare purchase orders.
  8. Liaise with field logistics and programme staff to ensure timely delivery of procured goods and services.
  9. Ensure paper and electronic records are maintained in a systematic manner in line with NRC's standard procurement procedures, providing a clear auditable trail
  10. Establish and maintain good professional working relationships with suppliers and contractors whilst strictly adhering to NRC's anti-corruption guidelines and NRC's code of conduct
  11. Support organization of packing, loading, and unloading of materials.
  12. Support in identifying and hiring of daily laborers.
  13. Manage and monitor warehouse, control inventory, stocks…etc.
  14. Keep records of all incoming and outgoing materials, on paper and in electronic form. Maintain accurate records of materials and constant control.

Professional competencies

  • Basic experience from working in logistics in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  • Working knowledge or basic communication in English, both written and verbal
  • Basic knowledge of the context in the areas NRC operates
  • Highly organized person, with sense of priorities
  • Attention to details, creative thinking
