What will you do?

  • Provide support to logistics operations and activities, following standard processes and facilitating, directly or indirectly for the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  • Issue time-bound Stock Transfer Order (STOs) for cargo being transferring ex-port/warehouses to Dhusamareb/Galkayo warehouses and inter warehouse transfers as well as dispatches to final delivery points.
  • Work closely with operations to ensure Stock Transfer Order (STOs) are loaded on time, all waybills issued at warehouse level have vehicle tracking numbers and follow up on delivery status with the transporters and timely return of waybills.
  • Prepare daily dispatch report showing the plan for the month, Food Release Note (FRNs) issued by Programme, Stock Transfer Order (STOs) issued by Logistics, and actual dispatch/deliveries to Final Destination Point (FDPs).
  • Provide day-to-day progress and movements of WFP commodity receipts, dispatch movements and schedules.
  • Support operational pipeline analyses, assessments, and operational planning for all delivery modalities.
  • Provide guidance to other support staff, to assist them in completing standard tasks to agreed standards and deadlines.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support efficient logistics operations management.
  • Monitor delivery-planning activities prior to the trucks arriving to Dhusamareb warehouse. Ensure efficient and timely load and discharge of trucks.
  • Maintain a proper reporting and filing system and archiving documents so they can be retrieved quickly and efficiently when needed.
  • Monitor retailer’s performance in the implementation of their activities for Cash Based Transfers (CBT).
  • Provide capacity building and training of retailers in the use of Point-of-Sale machines.

Do you meet the minimum requirements?

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in a social science or related functional areas is desirable.

Experience: Five years of progressively responsible in the areas of transport, warehouse, and retail managements.

  • Ability to collate. Analyze data and drafting reports.
  • Hands on logistics experience in the UN or INGOs is desirable.

Language: Fluency in oral and written communication in English and Somalia is required.
