POSITION NUMBER :361636 - Logistics Assistant

Purpose of the position

The purpose of the position is to provide support to WCO logistics and transportation inclusive of the warehouses, exemption documents, management of the office vehicles, drivers and all related activities.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To eradicate polio from Pakistan as per the objectives laid out in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) End Game and Strategic Plan 2013-2018 as well as to reduce morbidity and mortality of other EPI target diseases.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

Logistics:

1. Supervise all warehouses pertaining to WHO Pakistan and ensure its complains with IPSA's Requirements

2. Ensure that Custom Clearance at Pakistan International Airports and Pakistan Land and seaports are performed in timely manner according to Rules & regulations.

3. Facilitating exemption documents and getting special permission from local government bodies for imported cargo.

4. Liaise with the various Ministries of Pakistan to ensure the most effective means of executing custom clearance of related logistics efforts.

5. Assist in the logistical operation subject to any requirements of the organization.

6. Support Logistics development of Pakistan Hubs.

7. Maintain data base of service representatives to ensure that materials and requirements meet established standards, and that applicable policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed for clearance & transportation.

8. Ensure warehouses are managed in accordance with WHO guidelines for storage.

9. Maintain and update the logistic EMERGENCY contingency plan Transportation:

  • Manage office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel documents and other items.
  • Monitor drivers and planners on a daily basis.
  • Monitor all trip records and record daily vehicle idle time including Logs Official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil change.
  • Ensure close monitoring of all driver document submissions e.g., fuel slips, trip sheets and pre trip inspections.
  • Will be responsible for managing a team of drivers.
  • Pick-up and all related local distribution and ensure efficient and effective daily planning of the Local Transport activities, including route planning, driver allocation.
  • Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of accident.
  • Recommend areas of improvement within General Transport activities and operations9. Schedule and oversee driver training

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Completion of secondary education, supplemented by training in the field of security and/or supply/logistics. Valid driving license. Desirable: University degree in business administration, logistics management or related field is an asset

Experience

Essential: At least 10 years progressive experience in the field of supply/logistics and/or security. Desirable: Relevant experience in the UN system

Skills

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at PKR 3,570,199 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
